What kind of bullet is this?

My uncle came across this round while trying to help his daughter in law go through her deceased fathers gun room. I’m baffled. Can anyone shed light to what this is? He said it’s 308.

Looks like a subsonic load with the bullet seated backwards and yes that is one way to do subs.

Do you only have 1? If you have more, pull the projectile to see what it looks like.

If you have a kinetic bullet puller, I would pop the projectile out an see. Like mentioned above its probably a bullet seated backwards.

I can't tell if it's the photo and the projo is rounded at the top like a wad cutter.

Is it flat or concave like a BT or convex??

Thanks Lange! I knew of only one place on earth that would have the answer and this place has never disappointed! I really appreciate yalls help! I learned 2 things from this, what round this is and that you can load a subsonic backwards!
