I have read mixed opinions regarding the 30-06 family and especially when it comes to the 40* shoulder of the 280AI.
I posted in Gunsmithing but I suppose many do not go there.
I would like to hear from some using BDL and AICS [ or typical M-5] type mags both.

What are you doing to the AI 300WM mags to get them to hold an '06 class ctdg? I've tried fully formed 280 AI in my AI mags, and the rounds just pop out when I seat the magazine in the DBM.

I've spoken with one of the guys at Accurate Mag - he tells me they've got someone wanting AI-style magazines for the '06 bad enough to order 100 of them, at which point they (AM) figure it's worth it to make the run of these mags. He said that IF they go through with making this run for whomever it is, he'd make sure they made a few extras for me. Not a definite deal, by any means, but it's the best offer I've had yet. If I was sitting on a pile of cash, I'd tell 'em I want 100 more of these, then see what sort of a price quote they'd shoot me. Surely there's enough demand for a reliable, ready-to-go AI-style mag for the '06 family of cartridges that 100 wouldn't last long?

I already had several AI 300WM mags for my 284 Win; didn't buy them expecting them to work in the 280 AI, but I'd sure like to make it happen. The 280 is built around a LA700 in a McM A5 in desert camo. I found a couple of Krieger hvy Palma 5R bbls on their inventory list, bought 'em both, and chambered the 1st one for the 280 AI, throated to work with Berger 180 Hybrids. With a 30" bbl, it's a beast, and the only application for it that I've come up with is LR steel matches. But I need a repeater, so gotta find a way to make the AI mags work unless AM comes through on their offer.

Don't know whose bottom metal you are using but if you buy CDI and send him your rifle he will inlet the stock for $50.00. If you send dummy rounds and your mags he will adjust the feed lips so the mags will work with your 280. I think he charges a bit more to tune the mags to your rifle. This is what I did with my 6.5-06. Runs great!
