I just bought a set of RCBS Gold Medal dies for 308 and I also bought the Neck Sizer Die Bushing 336 Diameter. Is this the right neck sizer die bushing for .308 Cal? The brass neck wont go in the bushing.
All depends on how thick your neck walls are with a bullet pressed in and your chamber neck size.
.336 and it won't go in ?
Is the brass New ? or Once fired ?
(For me as example ) on my neck bushing for Win. Brass. I use .331
on my Lapua .308 neck I use .336
But on my Win. .300 wm mag. brass I use .333
Rule of thumb I guess is to be about 3-K over the neck OD of brass, with bullet Seated. For Average Tension.
.
I use Win Brass and it’s been once fired. I measured a loaded bullet (168 Federal Gold Mach) and I got .339 so I deducted .003 and I got .336 that’s why I bought it.
Thanks for your info.
Your right on the money then. Once fired should not just slip right into the bushing. Most Remington chambers will leave brass about .340-341 after firing.
