I use crayon. Just pick a color and rub it in real hard and wipe the excess off. I did mine years ago and have never needed to redo it. Couldn't find pic of mine. But....
My wife's Ar15 in pink camo and inlay with crayon.

Sweet gun! I duracoated an AR and XD to match for some guys girl friend before in pink and purple.
Thanks. She wanted pink but not the whole thing done like those "hello Kitty" you see. All the inlay was with a pink crayon that matched the paint. Turned out good and has held up nice.
You could also use Fingernail Polish. Paint it in and use a little fingernail polish remover on a rag and wipe off the excess after about 30 min. That's what I have used with good results on a lot of paint fill projects.
