Experts: Celebrities using Boston marathon bombings to push gun control are confused | Fox News

Really? Don't get me wrong I love America and I'm all for individual freedom and democracy, but reading things like this sometimes makes me feel that I live in the most retarded country in the world. You all know that these Hollywood snots have millions of fans all throughout America and now they are poisoning the minds of the gullible with their incoherent logic about the dangers of firearms in this country. Unfortunately, because we live in the USA the gullible have rights too and the politicians will entertain their wishes to get their votes. If there is one thing that we need to ban and regulate in this country it is the media, social networking etc... Terrorism will not bring about America's demise. We will self destruct from within, the degradation of American society will result from our love affair with flooding our media with nonsene, and American's soak up nonsense like no other. I'm relatively young (25) and I've spent half of my life outside of this country, now I get this weird feeling that my kids (that I plan on having someday) will not grow up in the same country I came to. America will still be here, but what America?

We are governed by emotion only (look at the gun issue) and are in our death throes now. The country will survive but it won't look/feel like it did 10 years ago. Make sure you have an exit plan.

Where the fuck am I gonna go? Coming here was my exit plan, or so I thought. My only hope now rests in Texas I guess, if they manage to whether the storm.

Texas has one MAJOR problem. Lack of water, and lack of intelligent management of what water there is... Or is that two problems?

Its gone by the way of "Panic and Overeaction"

lets face it-if the purpose of "Terrorism" is to cause "terror", it appears they have achieved that and have won!

We as sheeple can now only sit in our homes, and wait to be rescued..

fuck that.

I'm with you... awaken and become AWARE. I can see right through the propaganda on our main stream media channels.

Biggest problem is that reason, logic, and politicians, cant exist in the same sentence.

You all are missing the most important issue in the gun debate.

The real issue we should be debating is outlined below in the related slideshow section of the story...

Reason and logic have given way to ideologies propagated by the premise that no matter how bad the turd smells it does have a clean end to pick it up by. This ideology and premise is fomented by a misinformed media that purveys disinformation for political gain and empowerment over the populous. Further evidence to support this is found in the myriad of individuals who tolerate that which should be found intolerable, and insure the ideology is taught, and trained within their offspring.
I, however, have always known that no matter how bad the turd smells it is still a turd. It is therefore intolerable, and should be dealt with as all intolerable things are.

You have to believe in science first before you can be logical. There a ton of people right now who have really fuzzy thinking because they haven’t broken with the past but think they are enlightened. You can’t have a solid moral foundation if you don’t actually believe in anything.

" According to the left wing zealots we have in politics, we're not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few "crazies".

But the acts of a few American "crazies" is enough to judge all Americans who own guns."

That does seem to say it all!

Not to thread hijack but that is not true at all! Logic and reasoning were around long before scientific method came into being.

Yet I do agree that many people can twist their reasoning or willing disregard it completely to rationalize their views and desires.

And THAT, friend, is one of the eloquent'est posts I've seen here in a while. Shout it from the rooftops!

Only about 3 more years...then we had better come up with a good GOP candidate to bring some balance back. Its grassroots time on making sure we retain the house and take the senate. Reid is helping us out with all his moronic statements...for the luv that guy has rocks in his head.

I am sensitive to the whining in colorado by my peers who when asked if they have voted or done anything about it say "no". Well, then shut up...no action is equivalent to complicite agreement. This site is full of good folks, but whats the point in being good if you are good for nothing.

Also, you know liberals don't care about gun violence. Just like pro-choice has nothing to do with womens health. It's all about money and power. They want the guns gone to have more power. It's convenient that liberals know hollywood elites are really not that bright...they are a pawn to stop gun violence cause they incorrectly believe that no guns = no violence. Liberals know that math doesn't add up, so they use hollywood elites as mindless pawns.

I am going to run for office and get the goofy politicians out.

I believe logic and reason were foundational to Aristotle who is generally considered the father of the scientific method. There are other valid approaches to the view of the universe. They never violate the scientific method, but sometimes go beyond it.

well before the terrorism, in Italy we have experimented the mafia, once endemical in some of our southern regions ONLY_ to stop it, the first gov't move was NOT to terminate the bad guys, but to send them mandatorily to north, hoping to separate them from their operational regions (!), and spreading this phenomenon everywhere,of course_ subsequently, to apparently fight the organized crime, since the WWII end the gov. has enforced a huge number of laws to better control the work and the money income/flow/bank accounts of everyone, with the foreseeable result, among well interesting others, to better rummaging on everyone's pockets_ if we love debate about reason and logic, anyone can see here a shiny kind of well motivated reason and logic...

Texas has an even bigger problem called Rick Perry and the Trans Texas Corridor (also known as the NAFTA/North American Superhighway).

While the governor of Texas has been busy making rah rah about how "Texas just won't stand for any more incursions from the Frauderal government in DC," Sociopath-in-Chief Perry has been tirelessly busy selling the state down the river and promoting a deviant socialist one world agenda.

Oh crap, I forgot, he's a Repukelican, so I am not supposed to point out his one worlder marxist central planner tendencies. What I meant to write is this:

"Hell yeah! Go Texas. It's in the state constitution that Texans retain the right to become their own republic again, and they have a super conservative hoss of a governor who ain't afraid to say it!"

I'm well aware of Governor Perry. Just didn't want to dis him here because he is popular and didn't want to get into politics. But your correct. And he supports allowing his cronies and political donors to build some 26 coal fired power plants. And on and on.

The trouble with gun rights in Texas is the majority of the state is now concentrated in the 4 major metropolitan areas which have higher crime problems and a concentration of people from out of state who tend to lean blue. It doesn't look good when a city councilman, who may be the next mayor of Austin, blatantly says he intends to confiscate weapons.

Just like they took over CO they are now trying to take over TX. Just like the rest of the country most of the people who live in TX live in or near the cities.

Also, you need to be careful driving through Austin with a gun in your car if you do not have your CHL. They are picky about the law. They will ask you were you are going and if your not traveling over a distance or overnight and have a gun in your car you'll have to take a ride and talk to the judge. The law in Texas allows you to carry in you car if you are traveling away from your home, since it's vague it has been interpreted by most as anytime your in your car. Austin PD have decided that it only means when you are traveling on what they consider a trip. Things are a changing.

The big problem anywhere is italicized and emboldened above. This cancer moves across the nation and incorporates itself into everything conservatives, libertarians, and normal people hold to be self evident and true. If these people would just STAY in Oregon and NYC where they came from, the rest of US would be fine

So I've actually got an answer to the original question... Aparently, with the advent of "brain mapping", the ability to scan people's brains while they are in the process of making decisions, scientists have learned that people don't really use their "thinking" brain to make decisions, they use the emotional part. I would be willing to bet that if the advance in this science was put on a timeline with "political rhetoric" we would find a huge increase in "emotional plea" messages around the time that this science was recognized. Not saying emotional plea wasn't around before, but I bet there is a big upswing with the "science".

Remember the people you talking about are out of touch with reality. No idea of paying bills no problems with health care . Most have never felt threatened in any way. The people making decisions have no idea. JMO.

I don't quite see the analogy here. The article, as I read the interpretation, did not specify that any particular group was more or less responsible of the behavior...ie: lefties/righties, dem/repubs, conservatives/ liberals, all work the same way. That's why the problem. Its kind of like my dad used t tell me...."Son, your thinking with your dick and not your brain, and your dick is still harder than your brain."
