A couple of days ago I stubled across this 20+ year old matchrifle built on a Wichita single shot benchrest action. It has a 1.5kg two stage european match trigger, Anschutz sights and probably a Schultz&Larsen cut rifled barrel in 6.5x55. Stock is laminated wood. The rifle is like new, almost unfired. The original owner passed away last year. I explained the family that this was an expensive rifle in it's day. The family had no interest in guns and I was offered to buy it for $250. Now I can't wait to pick it up after the paperwork is done.

I need to scope this rifle. I have not seen a Wichita rifle in the last 20 years so does anybody know the correct bases for this action? Serial nr. is 473.

They are still in business.
Try here Home Page

You can probably get information in re your action and mounting provisions. I used to have one of their Silhouette Rifles but I really don't recall how the scope was mounted.

They use 1.35 diameter .860in CtC bases. Paul is right any base with a rem 700 front rec diameter base could work You at Davidson/Kelbly bases as well as talley too. The leupold prw bases work too. Just make sure it the wbr1375 receiver and not the wbr1200 receiver.

Thank you for the info guys!

If the front base for Rem700 is correct the Wichita receiver have the same dia as Rem700. I wonder if the CtC action sqrews are the same as R700SA.

I'll probably keep the rifle as is with a scope on top but this action might fit in a tube gun chassis with a cut for the bolt stop.

Torf
