The World as we know it.
The Springfield Armory 1911 TRP is on the next handgun list and one that I have been starring at for a while at the local shop. I love springfield 1911s so I know that they are accurate and top notch. But those who have owned one was there anything that just needed to be addressed? This gun will be with me all the time. I carry so its coming with me. I seen a pic of one on the "show me your 1911 thread" with a light attached...just freak'n sexy. I think they are running around 1300 new at the shop. Anyways Thanks for your help.

Re: What to expect-Springfield TRP

I have TRP with out the rail, shoots great only problem i ever had was with one of the fatory mags, changed them out for wilsons and never had another. The fit and finish is great aswell. Accuracy is very very good with a variety of ammunition out of the pistol, its a good choice imho.

What to expect?
AWESOMENESS!

Seriously, It's my favorite pistol... ever. Springfield is great with customer care, I've put well over 10,000 rounds threw mine and it has not had a single malfunction. Best pistol I've ever owned and I have really tried to find better pistols. I know they exsist but not for the same money they don't, at least not for me.
You'll love it

Re: What to expect-Springfield TRP

Keep in mind that the TRP Operator and the TRP are not the same pistol. The TRP Operator has a bull barrel, and some, as pictured above, have a long dust cover and unique slide. All new ones have a short dust cover and a classic slide, though. I believe that the TRP operator only comes with an adjustable rear sight, and the TRP only with a fixed sight. Personally, I wouldn't have an adjustable rear sight on any pistol that I intended to carry. The TRP has a bushing barrel.

The TRP is a great pistol and if I wanted to buy a pistol and shoot it "as-is," the TRP has a great bundle of features, including the most important one, to me: frontstrap checkering.

I suggest that you go for it. $1300 is a great price.

If I were going to buy a new pistol, I would buy an STI Spartan, have it checkered, add my usual ambies, flat trigger, and narrow front sight, and magwell, and after refinishing, I'd probably come in a hair cheaper than the TRP and have a few nicer parts.

...but you get most of that work done for you for free, with the TRP. Thus why, for most, the TRP is the way to go.

Re: What to expect-Springfield TRP

i shelled out 1100 for mine and that was with no tax thanks to the px if you can find it for less get it immediatley, 1300 is not bad either but is still up there when income isnt disposable anymore

Same. I never used the factory mags--I use Wilson 47Ds, and it runs great, feeds SWCs, FP, Ball, and HP ammo flawlessly.

Love it.
