Gunsmithing what type of silver solder to use?

Can someone help me out on what grade of silver solder to buy and use on my gun Smithing projects?? Like for front sights, bolt handles, ect?

Your local welding supply house can usually help you out with that part. If you don't feel right asking them look at Brownell's web page. They used to carry both the wire and the ribbon. I have both. But for most firearms applications I prefer the flat ribbon.) Be sure to get some good flux and a couple of little wire tooth brushes for cleaning. Some good quality METAL clamps to hold the work in place can be invaluable. The plastic ones just don't hold up to the heat from a torch.

For mild steel I use 45% silver and ultraflux. It works good, and if prepped right, flows nice.
