Up here I can shoot off my deck while eating grub.

I've been many places in the states where the food was at best third rate.
I'm in the South Bay, about an hour from SF but I can get excellent and authentic food of nearly any type because the population is very culturally diverse.
There are plenty of down sides but lack of really good restaurants is not one of them.
There are plenty of bad restaurants too but most don't last very long.
I would leave except my family and industry are here. Unfortunately my job skills are not worth much outside of my industry. A guy is trying to get me in the door to systems engineering but it's a big stretch with my resume.
I have lots of friends who are Trump fans in San Francisco. Most people hide it, that's why the polls were wrong on Trump in 2016. Its the grownups versus the children. If I drive 5 hours I can get to parts of Nevada that are so clear the Milky Way casts a shadow on the ground when their's no moon. If you google "light pollution maps" you can find these spots. Idaho's the best last time I looked.
Of course there's great food in any city but I meant there's a lot of good restaurants close by and a huge variety of types of food and I fear getting bored, that's a lifelong fear of mine. And of course if you're hungry enough anything is good. Too many of us take food for granted in America, that its always going to be there. They think food comes from Safeway and that's that.
The area we go to in Idaho is 50ish miles from cell service.
Not much light pollution in those parts.
Iv'e seen the shadows from the star light a coupe of times.
Full moon is plenty for walking sans headlamp.
Nice crisp night around 9500 makes for good star gazing.
