I wouldn’t be in such a sour mood over it, but my shift is normally afternoons. I have to cover half of the dayshift because many of my coworkers refuse to work holidays and have either taken personal days or called in “sick”. So they get to enjoy time with their families and I get screwed and have to cover the street from 10am-10pm.
Ignore me, I’m just in a pissy mood and felt like bitching. I have a lot to be thankful for and need to focus on those things...as well as the excellent holiday overtime pay. ?

We enjoyed our Christmas last night after I had to arrive late due to a couple Hospital Transports, then get back in here this morning. Lots of long faces in the gulag on Christmas.

Got a kick ass Blu Ray Player and a couple Movies from some secret Santas on here, some Omaha Steaks, Taters, n Veggies, from another great guy on here that my Wife made some Beanie Hats for. Some Red Stag Sausage and Summer Sausage from ANOTHER great guy here that ALSO got a Custom made Beanie, ANOTHER great gift from yet ANOTHER great guy on here who ALSO got a custom Beanie, and some other little odds n ends.

Thank you to my Brothers on here, and to you and yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

This is the 4th year that I have not worked Christmas... Not having kids, I'd always work it so the family guys could have the day off. Seems strange still!

Then the other day we were "just looking" in the Amish furniture store and found a nice entertainment center at 75% off, so that followed us home.

Now I'm thinking a we need a bigger TV.
(no presents under the tree when this was taken because she wrapping them all in the dining room)

I also got a bottle of 14 year old whisky from my BIL, which was nice.

My side of the family is gathering here today.
I am eternally thankful to have my dad still with us and doing very well at 89.

We had the greatest gift, family! We had a houseful since we just moved into central TX and had my sis and BIL from Georgetown and my niece and nephew and their kids/grandkids from the Woodlands, our #1 son and DIL and our two grandsons (6 and 3 yo) from nest door in Temple and our #2 son and DIL flew in from LA. #2 son is the Head Chef at Joey Restaurant in downtown LA and he got me a sous vide tool and we did a brisket for 16 hours then finished on my pellet smoker for about 3 hrs. Was fricking fantastic! Also did a big old seafood boil with king crab legs, prawns, mini spuds and corn. Great time had by all. Oh, and my #1 son did give me a really nifty Kershaw quick opening folder. But again, playing with the grandkids and having family in the house can't be beat..

Trigger job is in order! For a huge improvement, pull it apart and take out the first spring in the back. Cuts the trigger pull in half. You can do a more involved trigger job that cleans it up some more, but just pulling that first spring is a huge improvement. Takes 5 minutes. Good tutorial on youtube.

Do a trial run on something else. The Rec tec is awesome, but depending on where you live you may need to adjust the feed rate, which they will help you do on the phone. Mine was running hot when trying to cook low and slow so we had to slow it down. Been perfect ever since.

I got called for work. The dumbass senior engineer that was on call wasn't answering his phone and had his voicemail saying he was ooo and to call me. Power company needed verification of a power outage. I told them to call the on call guy. He still didn't answer them or me. Power co. called me back to say they weren't dispatching till we were physically at the remote site. I said "ok, have a merry Christmas". Fuck it. That's what generators are for. Can't wait for the boss to question my time sheet. Lol!

Match Saverz was probably the coolest gift this year. I hope to try it at the skeet range this weekend.
