Range Report What's the deal with hornady black

Anyone have any range reports on these? I had never seen or heard of them until I saw a box of it at my local academy just recently . I see they offer different bullet selections such as AMAX and BTHP etc. Is it just a new line of hornady ammo that uses a different powder? If so, how has it performed for you all? Any experiences with them?

Grabbed a box 75gr .223 HP to try on the coyotes. Haven’t been out yet but it hits 1 1/2” low from my normal 26.9 gr of Varget behind a 55grn @ 100 yards.

Its designed for semis but works great in bolts too. I know a bunch of people shooting the Creedmoor that is only available at Academy now and they say it's very accurate.

i asked hornady about their black 62g .223 load and they said their last four lots had avg SD's in the low teens.

My 6.5 Grendel only gets Hornady Black. It’s never shot a group over 1 MOA to include a 6.5” group at 789yds. My only complaint is they basically gut coyotes when you hit them, like jellied organs or emptied rib cages. Have never had a problem killing or hitting anything though.

I decided to buy a box and try it out. The third shot, as I squeezed the trigger, I felt myself actually pull to the left. That is why we see one slightly high and left. I was going to do a 5 shot group but went for 6 instead. So assuming there was no user error, we can say the ammo is sub MOA. Rifle is a Howa HCR in 6.5 creedmoor.

I forgot to mention, this is at 100 yards.

Bought a box to try to see if my rifle liked it. Prime ammo is consistently 3/4 Moa or better in this rifle. Hornady black groups opened up to over 2.5 moa. Threw the rest of the box in the trash.

Cool to see some good bullets in some relatively affordable factory stuff. Excited for the .223 62 fmj, 75bthp,73 eld and some of the other stuff. I've been finding it at few places. Just gotta grab some.

Been pretty happy with it out of a 6.5 Grendel AR. SD of 13.5 in the last 15-shot group I chronoÂ’d. CouldnÂ’t ask for much better out of a sub $20 box of factory ammo.

The 155grn 308 shoots exceptionally well. It's a little slow but groups in my rifle are 3/4 MOA or better.

308 155 amax black 20" 2740 fps . It's good stuff. Even better deer round.
