Bourbon street got the best of this poor feller.

Im guessing his BAL is well north of 400. The skinny homeless pros are something.

Had a Marine from Vietnam who was an ER regular for several years. He was in the 2/7. Said he came home and never stopped drinking. Always told me he would rather drink himself to death than get help and relive it in his brain sober.

He was walking steadily, sneaking out of the ER once, told me we were killing his buzz.....

BAL was 574.........

Wifes view just after daylight this morning. He was over sized so had to go back in the drink. Would made for some nice grilled fillers this afternoon. Back home by 10 so she could get some sleep before work tonightView attachment 7119591View attachment 7119592
By rule/regulation it’s too big or not good eatin’ once they get too big? What species?

By rules and regs. They have a slot size of at least 18” and no more than 27” and two per person per day. Used to be only one per person and before that it was catch it keep it . that one was 30” still pretty decent to eat but wouldnt be for much longer if able to keep it. The breeders are over the 27” mark according to the florida fish folks.
We call them reds in this area, some folks call them red bass, red drum, spot tail reds.
Think the technical term is red drum. Maybe mike cassleton will chime in on this also, not sure what they call them down his way

Red drum around here. Mostly referred to as Reds or Redfish.
Slot size is the same here but it might narrow in the coming year.
Limit is one per person on the Gulf coast.

Due to last year's red tide, Reds, Snook and Spotted Sea Trout are closed to take (catch and release are okay) south of Pasco County southward.

John, that's a nice over slot fish.
The reds are very spooky in this area due to the pressure put on them.
My buddy went out yesterday and caught 11 of them in under two hours. All were slot or over slot.

The bait?

Large and medium shrimp on a 1-0 hook freelined.

I hear ya on the pressure issue. We probably have two or three tournaments a month in the local waters here. Wife and i are gonna head a little north of here in the morning and try and target some flatties. Should be a tarpon or two in the area also. That would be fun on 15 # bait caster gear. South of us in the st johns they are killing all kinds in live shrimp, we have it pretty good this way. Can catch reds flounder speckled trout sunshine bass and black bass all in the same area same trip down there.
Only thing is sometimes ya have to cuss a dock owner that thinks they own the water surrounding their dock. Been there done that. Tell them to call the law and see what happens. Oh btw mike, hearing reports down crystal river area that the scallops are there just in 10’ of water. Its deep but doable.

Yep, took/met the kids down there for a week just a bit east of there.
Saw a lot of Jet traffic in the area.
Pretty sure we saw more than a couple of F22s as well.

Good ??. Watched a 22 depart OSH yesterday, it’s impressive. It’s a case where I’m happy as a pig in shit that my tax dollar goes towards that.

You red fishermen should check out Louisiana.
They have redfish like white on rice.
Liberal limits. 5 per day 16-27

You can make it as sporting as you like but half a fresh crab will outdo anything you have.
They will not swim past it.

I meed to get over there. Have some buddies that have gone a couple of times. Bow fishing them at night even.

Had a little free time this afternoon, so I thought I’d brush up on my rusty pistol skills. Just for fun, I picked polar opposites as a challenge. One of several ratted out G17’s that saw hard use in the Production class wars vs a S&W Performance Center 952-2. Both are fun and shoot extremely well if fed their pet loads.

Breaking in the baby Treager. Bacon wrapped jalapeños stuffed with creamcheese and Berger’s for the boys. Now the steak for Jamie and I.

Hi,

So, since nobody has asked already lol...
What grain and caliber Bergers are you making Cash eat? Is that kind of like the ol feeding dogs gun powder thing.....?

Sincerely,
Theis

Didn’t know they made such a thing. Pretty cool. How’d they turn out?
The discontinued them for a while because of problems. They are just coming back in stock and my buddy is a dealer. He ordered it a couple months ago and it’s taken this long for it to show up. At first the auger didn’t want to run but I think I might have that problem fixed.

All the food turned out great. I have to reduce my steaks cook time slightly to get them just right compared to my bigger treager though.

I am currently out of Don Carlos. I don’t grind in the summer though...

You in need of something that fits?

I remember that you use store bought in the summer. I can't remember to get sour cream from the store, but I did get tortillas and beer. Ha!

I'll send you some more towards the end of your travel season. Just remind me.
My truck has the tiny cup holders so not a lot fits them.
Even my Yeti is too tight.

I didn’t make a thing. All of this is straight from solventtrapsdirect. Their machine work is decent. The consistency leaves a little to be desired but I’m waiting to do a full review until I get the spacers cut and baffles and cap drilled. I’m probably going to clip the baffles too for maximum suppression. I’m approved for a 12” and a 6”
