So what you are saying is that our constitutional rights (and god given rights, because the founders saw the rights granted to us by the bill of rights as god given) should be limited/restricted by the government because something MIGHT go wrong. Look bad shit happens every day, I know this because my profession requires me to clean up the mess after it does, if we allow ourselves to start stripping our constitutional rights away from one another because of this fear then we truly have lost sight of the principal which we founded this country upon.
I am all about education and training but simple fact of the matter is that the bill of right allows the citizens of this country to exercise our rights without having to prove a thing other then being US citizens. Going on the principals of your statement we should only be able to exercise our first amendment rights if they don't offend someone. And only be protected against illegal search and seizure after the government has determined that you are not a threat. So yes it is scary that some people are walking around with a pistol on their hip, but my rights can not and should not be infringed upon based on that simple truth.

If we're going to play the "by your logic" game, you would do away with the concept of a driver's license.
You can't tell me you've ever been driving and said to yourself: "That sumbitch shouldn't be allowed to drive" or "How'd that jackass ever get a license"
If you haven't, you've either:
a) Never driven
b) Are that "sumbitch" or "jackass"
But you say "That's a privilege not a right! It's totally different!"
What is a
right ? A privilege to which someone is entitled (assuming you can match the appropriate definition to context). Sounds like something that is given and just as easily stripped.
Make no mistake anything that is given, is just as easily taken away. If you don't think so, do a google search for Japanese-American citizens in the 1940's, African-Americans in the 1960's, and just plain women in history. Rights come and go, and vary state to state, county to county, town to town. Can we please get some new ammo for this than always falling back on the 2nd amendment and our founding fathers. It's tired. If you don't think so, look at this whole CNBC/Remington fiasco. Idiots are ruining the party for EVERYONE. Thankfully, Remington got off their ass and made a logical case for themselves. Unfortunately, it won't get the same attention as the CNBC story. It sure beats them going out, thumping their chests and muttering cliche's about the 2nd Amendment and founding fathers.

As you stated. Driving is not a right, is a privilege that is not constitutional protected. Following your logic then we might as well do away with on constitution because it is old and tired. Yes rights can be restricted if abused, that is something that clearly acceptable by US law. However taking rights away based on the fact that something might happen defies law and logic. Think of it like this. My profession is in emergency medicine. And I can arrive on a scene and tell a patient that they will die if they do not choose to be treated or transported, however they still have the right to refuse. There is nothing I can do about that because it is a right they have. On the other hand if the patient has taken an action such as attempting to harm themselves or expressed an intention to do so that right no longer exist. The right went away because of an action of the patient. It does not go away because the I think the patient is in danger.
I have no problem with requiring people to take a class to obtain a CHL or even a proficiently requirement at the time of the class. This is even allowed by the constitution. However any thing further is not covered by the constitution.
So please in the future if you don't care to use the supreme law of the land, the US Constitution, then don't even bother with any additional agreements based on law. Remember that every police officer, solider, and public offical in this country has sworn to up hold it, and it allows for all the freedoms that us as citizens enjoy.
