When will Barrett release other calibers for MRAD

Re: When will Barrett release other calibers for MRAD

Thanks for responding!

I only see 0.338 Lapua Magnum under configurations on the Barrett website. Also, the same thing inside the price list for the MRAD.

Re: When will Barrett release other calibers for MRAD

There was a pretty lengthy thread on this same subject about a month or so ago that indicated sources at Barrett said conversions would start hitting the market Q1 2013 (or just about any time now in other words). That said...the bad news...apparently the ONLY conversion for the time being will be .300WM with no specific timeframes/plans/etc. for addt'l calibers/conversions.

Barrett needs to get its @#$% together on this issue and/or release the components required for competent smiths to produce MRAD barrels/conversions as was done long ago by DTA for the SRS platform.

Re: When will Barrett release other calibers for MRAD

I thought I was missing something when I could only find the 338s. A switchbarrel setup with 1 available caliber...Barrett does need to buckle down before the competition passes em up. The bigger question is what are they workin on that's chewing up all their time and resources?

I know right!

If I were Barrett I would definitely try to get the SOCOM PSR contract. That would be excellent for the company and secure it financially for a few years. Maybe they are having some engineering problems?

Anyway I was at the Park City, KY Mammoth Sniper Challenge on Jan 4-6. Barrett was setup there and I shot the MRAD in 0.338LM both suppressed and unsuppressed. They had a prototype Leupold Mark 8 on top of it. It was a piece of cake shooting a 2mrad wide white diamond at 700m. I shot 3/3. Recoil wasn't bad at all either.

For the polymer magazines, they have ridges on the front. The number of ridges correspond to the caliber the mag is designed for. I want to say 6 for 338LM, 4 for 300WM, and 2 for 308Win.

I got to drive to go see a Marine friend. I'll get on here later and post picks of the MRAD I shot and also the Leupold Mk8 scope that was mounted on it.

At this point I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing anything past 300wm or hell even 300wm at this point from them.
