The picture is of a screw that I need. I dont have any to use as an example or measure. It goes on a Unertl mount and into a Rem 700 short action receiver.

Normally it'd be pretty impossible to tell what screw is needed from a picture, but since I'm a part-time Wizard I might be able to help.
Remington 700 base screws are 6-48 thread. You'll probably have to pull one to get an idea of the length and head shape you need. I'm guessing they're probably in the 1/4" to 3/8" range with non countersunk heads. Midway has a pretty large selection of lengths and sizes HERE that should work. I'm sure they can also be found from Brownells or McMaster-carr.

Thanks for the help. I started looking through my junk drawer and found the originals that came with this base. They are a little gnarled but at least I found them. THANKS AGAIN

I have some of those I think? I will have to go look but I believe that both counter sunk and non will both work but the head size is specific to that mount. You will be able to find something that works but may not have the exact same fit? Head size may be slightly smaller.
I am pretty sure the ones that I got that fit are from brownells?

I came across some of the originals in my junk drawer. They are the same screws that come with the OLD SCHOOL Unertl mounts. I had several in my stuff. I compared them to the ones on my M70 witch are way easier to take off than the M40A1 base. They are exactly the same. I guess that makes sence. Unertl VS UNERTL. Likely they would use the same screw. Only thing with mine are they are gnarled up from careless screwdriving.
