I have four rifles (AR, SCAR, HK91) and two shotties. Given a choice between a Millet, Burris XTR, ACOG, Burris Fastfire, CompML3, and a T1, where does the T1 fit? I get it, lightweight, smaller, etc. But what is the 'sweet spot' (utility) of the T1? I picked it up on a rifle that I bought used.

I think you answered your own question. It will do anything the compm3 will, but is smaller, lighter, and has longer battery life. Why add more weight than you need to?

The Aimpoints and Acogs carry a heftier price, but are probably more rugged than the others listed. Acog has built in magnification options, aimpoint is fixed 1x. The T1 is the most compact of the bunch. The Aimpoints require batteries and the Acogs do not if I recall correctly. I have an H1 with the 4 moa dot on an AR and a 3x magnifier. I really like the single bright red dot, it is quick to get on target. I don't shoot it terribly often but it is fun now and then. That's my .02c worth.

T1 is Aimpoint "tactical" line of micro dots. It has 3 (?) night vision compatible settings and then like 7-10 brightness settings for the red dot. It's cousin the H1 is the "hunting" line and as such only has the brightness settings.
It's a GREAT scope. Pricey, but you get real glass, a real sized window, adjustments all have positive clicks and the battery life is ridiculous. Literally you can turn it on and change the battery once a year.
Use wise, they are comfortably used on carbines, ranch rifles, shotguns, pistols as well as AR type rifles.
Hierarchy wise, it is far and away better than the other micro dots on the market (JPoint, Docter, STS, etc.). The only micro dot that has a slight advantage would be the Trijicon RMR because it doesn't need a battery (there are two models of RMR and one does require a battery). As stated above, it's a fixed 1x where the Millet and Burris are variable. The ACOG's vary in fixed magnification and are either illuminated by a fiber optic rod channeling light to the reticle or are NV compatible and are illuminated by tritium in low light situations and not illuminated in full day light (TA01NSN, e.g.).
It's a great dot and you'll be very happy with it. If not or you don't want it, give me a shout with what you want for it.

you can either run it as a secondary to a larger optic, or run it as a primary on a carbine or other close range weapon, 100-200 yards max and closer are the strong suit for the micro

Aimpoint T1 has 6 NV settings, 40,000 battery life, is small as hell and fast. I run one on my 14.5 AR and love it. When I shoulder the gun, it instantly pops and when shooting the housing all but disappears so there is nothing but a dot super imposed over the target.

T1 is rapidly becoming my favorite zero magnification optic. Theres not a lot to hate bout it. The skeptics say its pricey, but I guess they'll have to find out the hard way, you get what you pay for.

To me, the T1 was the result of a natural progression and is an upgrade to the standard M line of optics. As with many other things, evolution leads to smaller packages that do the same job.
Personally, I really liked the T1 and H1. As many have said, it does the same job as an M-whatever, but in a smaller package that is less bulky, less obtrusive and less likely to be damaged simply by virtue of its physical size.

The T1 Micro is my favorite red dot optic......I like it better than the larger M4 aimpoints, and A LOT more than any of the other brands.YMMV.

I run them on a Benelli M4 and a Sig 556 SBR. They work great. I tried one on an RFB but didn't like the way it looked (I know, who cares...) because it needed to be so high above the rail (AR height). For me, the T1 is a 200m and less optic.
