My scale says New Jersey on the Bottom but how do I know for sure where it was made. I wanted to send mine to Scott Parker if he still does calibration but he will only work on the USA made ones.

Thanks for the help. I wasn't sure because it doesn't say made in the USA. It may be a USA made one but it has some problems. I thought it might have Mexico or china hid on it somewhere but maybe not. A lot of manufactures will have there main location on the product and then somewhere hidden it will actually tell where it was made.

It's actually on the base "made in USA"

Wrong, at least on according to my two 10-10s, the photo loaded below is exactly what my 10-10 says the was ordered from midway, but the factory box it shipped in read made in mexico, my other 10-10 reads the same stamping on the scale itself, but the box says made in USA, id be happy to upload pictures if anyone would like them for a reference.

I guess I can upload pictures from my cell, sorry for poor quality. If you can see, both the stampings are the same for each scale.

Has anyone confirmed with RCBS? Considering the base says MFG by, not MFG in. The only places I see the made in Mex is on the box and printed in Mex in the instruction manual.

I picked up a made in Mex 10-10 a month or so ago and returned it because it would not zero. Then tried a Mex 5-0-2 and it was right on the money. Picked up another Mex 10-10 yesterday and it also is good to go. The clerk let me do a quick return-to-zero test at the store, I validated it with my check weights at home.

My point is the Mex ones are hit and miss. If you cant get it tuned, maybe send it in for exchange or refund. Both my 5-0-2 and 10-10 will start to deflect on the 2nd kernal and as little as one, once loaded with Varget. Either way I'm thinking the stock sensitivity and tolerance is still less than the RCBS digital equiv.

I sent RCBS an e-mail a while back and they responded that the 10-10 scales were made in Mexico for a while but are being made in China now. It is my understanding that this happened after 2000 but I can not confirm the date for sure. I do know that if it is stamped on the bottom of the scale manufactured by Ohaus Scale Corp Florham Park N.J. U.S.A. It was made here in the States if it was prior to 2000. Stingrayguy, did you purchase both scales new? If not this may explain the "box" situation.

No, the new one I got from Midway a few weeks back, the used one I picked up from a local gun shop.

Thats the first time hearing China, the new one I ordered from Midway says Mexico.

Stingrayguy...OK, so the one from Midway is the one that was made in Mexico that makes sense because you just bought it. There should be some kind of identification mark or stamp saying made in Mexico on the scale and not just on the box. If not this doesn't make any sense to me. I've never seen one of these Mexico scales to look over. I wonder if it's a serial number identification...xxxxxx serial number was made in the USA....xxxxxxx serial number made in Mexico and so forth. This has perked my interest.

"Hi Folks. I have been shipped three new RCBS 10-10 scales in the last two months to tune. They each came from different customers. All of them were made in Mexico. They are the work of trolls. They are not tunable nor do they repeat their zero readings. While I have tuned many 10-10s from years past, they were all made in New Jersey. I can not work on the current 10-10s. Furthermore, I simply can not recommend them to anyone.

Scott Parker"

This was from an accurate shooter forum when Scott discovered a problem with the Mexico made scales. Your Mexico scale should have "Imported" molded in on the scale somewhere.

Hope this helps. You can also contact RCBS or Scott Parker to see how to tell the difference.
