Where to Find Cheapest .22 Ammo

I saw a thread on here for locating and purchasing the good stuff, but I have twin boys with new M&P 15-22s and they don’t need Eley.

If there is a budget ammo thread and I missed it, my apologies and please delete this one. If there isn’t one, then there should be. The next generation needs to learn to shoot.

Where can a dad find the cheapest ammo for knocking beer cans off a log??

The last decent ammo I found was Blazer at Cabela’s $2 for 50.

For me the big box stores have seemed to keep fairly stable pricing despite the current market. Academy and cabelas have been my go to’s and I was lucky enough to score a few thousand rounds from bass pro right around Christmas time for $.06. A lot of it is luck and persistence and depends on what stores you have in your vicinity. If you don’t have anything in your vicinity you might try joining the reloading discord but it’s kind of a catch 22 because once something gets posted there it sells out almost immediately so you have to be very quick.

CCI and Federal sell consumer direct, but you have to check their websites for stock updates. Usually happens around 5:30 AM EST and then sporadically throughout the day.

I have bricks of bulk ammo for steel challenge that were $35/525 just a few months ago.

Good luck scrapping with the retirees at your big box stores. They know the truck schedules and have no problem waiting to be first in the door.

Cheap is going to be relative to time, place, demand, and inflation. $0.04-0.06 per round might never happen again. Hell, we missed the boat on $0.01 per round by a long while, but, on the plus side, appendicitis isn’t a death sentence nowadays.

Yeah, those retirees can be tough. I was at Cabela’s at opening and one shoved his way up to the ammo and took his arm and just swept it across the shelf, rolling everything into the cart. He didn’t even look at what he was throwing in there. The manager came up and said, “No. Not happening...”

You are right. Cheap is a moving target. I should have said reasonable. I don’t expect $0.02/round anymore, but who the heck can pay a quarter a round for plinking?? Nuts.

Buds shows some lower end .22 in stock right now, Fed Automatch, bucket o Remington, etc.

I've always had good luck buying guns and mags from Buds, never any ammo, but it appears to be there

I just check in here a few times a week when looking. I have gotten some decent prices on stuff I'm looking for wen being patient.
For instance, I don't know if the norma tac is worth a shit, but you do get the 10% off so it comes out to less than .15 a round for the stuff on top.
