Where to get me a Mosin

I've had pretty good luck finding them for reasonable prices at the local gun shows. I've also found a variety of them on GunBroker. Decent ones go for about $179-250 for the standard models. The carbines go for a bit more and the sniper models run about $500-700. If you have a Cabela's near you they typically are there and at reasonable prices.

I have had good luck finding 91/30's at three local dealers. First one cost $114, the next two went at $169 apiece, after the November elections. They are out there.

I buy them as shooters for me and my family. So far, I've had good luck with the results, and I believe it pays to work with a reputable dealer.

Unless you're buying the Mosin Snipers as a collector, going with a more modern LER Scout scope setup is a much better option. Even the more modest modern scopes work at least as well, and the Scout mounting arrangement permits feeding with strippers, which the original Sniper mount usually won't allow.

They are out there. I bought a un-issued mint 91/30 for $110 last month, as well as a m-44 for $140, all during ban scare time. Make sure the rifle checks out good and you dont overpay...takes a bit more searching but they are out there.

So I was in the LGS and saw 3 Chinese Mosins. Was real close to buying one when some guy bought all 3 in one swoop. I don't know much about these guns but they kept referring to them as the Carbine version as they were much shorter than a typical mosin

The shorter versions are notable for their enormous muzzle flash and very loud report. They don't shoot quite as flat, either.

I think you would do far better with a 91/30.
