I have never hunted hogs before and seeing that Alabama doesn't have a bear season, I want to try something new. I live in the Bham area and shoot at the Cahaba WMA in Helena. But, I have not seen evidence of hog in any great numbers.
I am open to traveling for the hunt to pretty much anywhere in the state. I would rather it be public land that I can hunt myself or some farmer/land owner that has problem hogs he wants removed. I would rather not pay for a hunt club unless it is close enough for me to use year round and hunt deer and turkey too. And bottom of the list is a guided hunt. They just cost too damn much for one or two days of hunting.
Oh, and I should mention that I am looking for spot and stalk hunts only. I am adamantly opposed to the use of dogs for hunting large game (with the exception of using them to track a wounded animal). And please lets not make this a thread about good vs evil of dog hunters. If you like to hunt with dogs, I am not going to stop you. Its just not for me.
