Where to position LabRadar when shooting a Gen 3 RPR?

Just got a LabRadar and was wondering where to place it when shooting prone with a Gen 3 RPR 6.5CM with the factory muzzle brake. Thanks.

I would put it about 10” in front of your brake, if you put it behind or next to it you will pick up gas particles and get bunk reads.

I am not sure where the brake sends the gas - to the sides or back?

On a small stool or other hand made contraption and shoot underneath it. No issues with aiming or breaks as you're going straight down the barrel

I place my Labradar about 8 inches behind the muzzle on the right side. Works just fine on my RPR and everything else.
Have shot way over a thousand rounds this way with no issues.

If you have the exterior microphone intended for rimfire or suppressed firearms, just use it. Set it under the barrel a few inches back from the muzzle. This is what I do now for every rifle and pistol for which I want to gather data. Way easier than moving the unit around.

You need to ascertain whether your brake directs gas to the side or to more to the rear. If the baffles are angled about 90 degrees to the barrel axis, it's probably safe to put the unit 6" back. If the baffles are angled further back, I would put it just in front of the scope turrets. If I put mine 6" back of my APA Little B*trd brake, the unit would catch some blast. Bad readings, eventual damage.

If you can shoot under the unit via a stool or tripod, that's good too - you'd really want to use the phone app in this case.

had some problems with my reading...moved it 8" to the left 2" back and it works like a charm on 6.5creed and other similar cartridges.

I position mine next to the action on the left side in front of the ejection port, Works well. I also use the improved sight for the unit.

Ryan Cheney at FTW Coatings makes a small "Quad Pod" that positions the lab radar above the barrel of your rifle. Virtually eliminated any failure to read errors I was having.
