I am having an old Essex framed 1911 rebuilt as a gift. The current slide is a GI Ithaca and I'd prefer to just start with a custom slide. I have been looking at fusion, and couple others but I am not finding the options I want in the order pages. Certainly there are Smith's here who also build pistols so here's my wish list:

Carbon steel 5" for dust cover
Can be flat side or ramped cut(might consider ball cut)
Novak rear dovetail
Stabdard front dovetail
Flared election port
Standard extractor
Thick cocking serrations rear, none front (open to fronts if need be)
Slide top can be round, flat or flat with Pattern, I don't care.

Seems pretty straight forward but either my Google-fu is weak or putting these options together is harder than expected. Fusion comes close, but they don't have a Novak option.

Any help is appreciated.

+1 on Caspian. I, personally, like their smooth sides.

Just ordered a Caspian. Had to call them to get clarification on the firing pin but all else went smooth. I like the no logo option, checkered top, standard dust cover cut.

Now, I need to pick which Novak sites to use, order the barrel and bushing, new trigger and maybe go with G10 grips over the cocobola I have on now. Pistol will be fully parkerized so some lighter colored G10s would set it off.

Should be a simple combat pistol.

My guy likes to use Kart. He's old timey SF and it's not worth listening to the bitching/ninja bullshit. I'll just go with what he likes to use :)

Any advice on a good trigger? Looking for non-adjustable match grade that's heavy enough for field work. Thinking 2.5~ish pounds, curved show as his hands are not huge.

There are a couple of things going on here I think. For fire control parts (sear, hammer, springs) Nowlin makes very good kits. Pick your pull weight and order. I’m of the mind that on a duty/carry gun your pull weight shouldn’t be lighter than a 4-4.5lb pull, but that’s just me. A good trigger in a 1911 set to 4.5lbs tends to feel lighter than it is.

As for the trigger itself, I’m a huge fan of the STI triggers.

You can gift me your old worn out Ithaca military parts if u feel generous. Birthday in 7..... just sayin Old friend, pal, buddy,
