Re: Which ACOG?
Yeah I think I'm just gonna have to give them a phone call.
The way I understand it from past phone calls with Trijicon's military department, the TA 31 F is the civilian hybrid between the TA31 M4 and the TA 31 A4
- that is to say that while the TA31M4 is for the 14.5 inch barrel of Marine or Army M4 carbines, and the TA31A4 is for the 20 inch barrel of Marine or Army m16 A4 service rifles, the TA 31F is just the average between those two , such that it is ideal for a 16 - 18 inch barrel (i say civilians, because most civilian personally owned M4s have a 16 inch barrel without including the threaded on compensator)
So anyways, just from glancing at Trijicon's website, I saw that there is a Marine specific TA 31 M4 and an Army Specific TA31 M4. I used the Marine one in the Marine Corps and for every application except extreme close CQB and anything at night time, lol - I loved it. I now want one to put on a 14.7 inch barrel m4.
What little difference between the Army and Marine one I understand is that on the Army model, once you take off the little caps to make adjustments, there are turrets there as opposed to the Marine one where you stick a flathead screwdriver or 5.56 case rim in to add some clicks.
I'd like to know if anybody has any experience with the Army version and has any recommendations one way or the other.
My experience in the military was such that the Army always has way way way nicer gear than Marines, so if I'm gonna buy one for my personal use, I want the better one.
Now with that being said, once I get a rock solid zero on my ACOG at 100 meters, I never adjust it ever again, so if those internal turrets on the Army model make the cost go up anymore than 50 bucks, its not at all worth it to me.
Hence, why I'd like to know if anybody has any experience or advice one way or the other, though I guess for actual technical data, I'll just give 'ol Trijicon another phone call.
Thanks in advance all. I appreciate any input.
