Re: Which AR10 to get? ($3500 rifle budget)
Decisions, decisions.
I would skip the REPR, no personal experience, but just hearing about all the problems getting them to run.
POF 308s, not much to choose from, very little supply. I've had multiple customers asking for them in the last month or so and had very few choices to offer them, both going direct and through their biggest 2 distributors.
LMT, not sure about the 308/7.62s, only had the 5.56/6.8s through me, but those were pretty good, although we had one odd failure on an LMT complete lower they sent us, an L7C4 I think, the ambi SOPMOD one, and the bolt release snapped. I've never seen that failure before in any AR. Not the inside part, mind you, the oval tab, snapped from a sharp palm smack, kinda surprised me on an almost $500 assembled lower...
No much LaRue/GAP/APA love in our store, aside from one used GAP 7000 that will probably never sell...
We are big Noveske fans though, but again, finding a 308/7.62 N6 right now would probably be just as hard as the POF 308, very slim pickings at the moment...
Now, about the DPMS, we actually ordered in a SASS for a Fed a while back, and I thought it was quite a bit more bang for the buck than an Armalite SASS, and with your budget, it might be ideal.
Already has the Harris/Magpul PRS, BUIS, etc etc, and you'd have over $1500 left over to get some good optics and round out your rig.
For some of your other name brands, you'll blow a lot of your budget on a fancy piston rifle, and will have to squeeze by on the rest of the "rig".
I say, get the SASS, a bunch of PMAGs, and a premium scope/red dot/holographic of your choice, and you'll still have money left over for ammo.
