i am a long time reloader that has purchased a bushing die set. this is my first set of bushing dies.i am wondering where to start with it and which bushing to start with. the rifle will be back from GAP next week i have everything but the bushing. this rifle is going to be shooting 300smks through a bartlein 9.5 twist 28inch barrel. also if anyone has some load data id take that as well, but my main question is which bushing to start with?
thank you

The Redding info is good except I don't agree with using internal size buttons . That's the whole idea of bushing dies to avoid expander buttons.
If neck wall thickness variation is a problem then neck turning is a better solution not old fashioned expander balls.

I'm useing a .366 bushing on Norma Brass with a 300 grain SMK. I recommend useing Lapua brass. The Norma brass is soft and expands and causes difficult bolt opening with all but the lightest listed load per the Sierra manual.

Get a .364 and a .365 and you will be covered. I happen to sell alot of them.

Adam's right on this one. Get both the .364" and .365" TiNi bushings and you'll be good to to go with Norma and Lapua brass. I can't speak to the Hornady 338LM brass, but I think that those sizes would work as well.

I use the .365 bushing. Do yourself a favor and stick with the Lapua brass. I've been loading 338LM for over 5 years and still have some of my original cases. 20+ loadings.

My powder of choice is Reloder25. 87 grains under a 300SMK should give you a good starting point. Good Luck.
