Rifle Scopes Which height Spuhr mount?

Re: Which height Spuhr mount?

I haven't mounted a SPUHR on my XLR chassis rifle, but on a continuous rail such as these AX rifles you will need the 1.46" height to clear. I would assume the hand guard tube on the XLR is sticking up about as high as the pic rail on the action. If that's the case, you will need the 1.46". Pictured here, a 56mm S&B the other is a 50mm S&B, both mounted in 1.46" SPUHR mounts.

Also, *I think* I remember a distributor telling me that the turret housing of the 5-25x56 is too large for the low (1.18") SPUHR. I.e. the optic won't sit in the mount rings without making contact with the bottom portion of the mount. I could be wrong about this fact, but for some reason I remember hearing that. Better check it out.

Re: Which height Spuhr mount?

a 1.35 mount is also available from Spuhr
I run this mount on my AX with with a S&B 3-20x50
keep in mind the huge tennabrex covers on this scope

Re: Which height Spuhr mount?

The XLR stock gives you AR type ergonomics so the rings you need are also AR height.

I've tried a whole bunch of different heights on my XLR and my 1.35" height Near Mfg alpha mounts were the minimum height I needed to feel comfortable. I'm currently running 1.45" height Murphys. My 1.25" rings can clear easily but they weren't usable when trying to look through the scope.

So based on my experience, I say go for the 1.46" SPHURS.

Wonderfull picture.
We have planned a manufacture of 1,88" high mounts for the AIAW50 so you can have correct mounts on all your AI's

The 1,18" mounts works with the 5-25 schmidt Benders, but the previous 1,1" model didnt.

I have no anser for the question of mount for the XLR as I don't have any experience of the XLR. But I belive that Kyle once told me he was using 1,18" spuhr mount on his own XLR with a Nightforce scope.
And the 1,35" mounts have been espesially made for the AIAX with continius rail.
