I completed my USMC M40 clone and realized that the rifle was much better than both the stock it was bedded in and the Redfield mounted on it. So, I ordered a McMillan M40A1-HTG for her and bought a IOR 16x42 from Scott at liberty optics. Now the question is, which mount to buy and use, the rifle is an early five digit rifle with the clip-slot. Badger Ordinance makes a Lugged Scope Rail for the Remington Short Action which is for Slotted Actions (306-06ux). Will this work, obviously there is some very good options out there, but I really would rather buy a base and rings that are close to perfect that I don't need to lap and so I can be done with it. Suggestions, ideas, and yes I spent way more on this rifle than I had ever intended.
