Hi all,
Dipping my toe back into the rifle world, just purchased a .223 Tikka T3x Tactical. I also picked up one of the discontinued $200 Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10x40 1” scopes, it’s one of the cheapest (but still decent) mil/mil scopes, or so I’ve heard.
I normally direct mount scopes, but this particular rifle has a Picatinny rail installed from the factory with some compound to seat it and I’d rather keep it on.
Here’s my dilemma - I’d rather not buy an expensive mount, as this is definitely not a “long-term” scope for me. I plan on keeping it on this rifle for 18 months or so, then upgrading to something nice in the 30-34mm tube size.
Given a fairly low (sub $100) budget, ideally sub $50, what do y’all recommend for a Picatinny mount, 1” tube? I’ll be shooting 100-400 yards max, and .223 isn’t the highest recoiling caliber, but eager to hear your thoughts!
