Just renewed my USPSA membership after taking a hiatus for a couple years. When I exited, I was shooting a G21 in Limited and was a middle "C" class shooter. I have available to shoot a G21, G19, and a Rock Island 1911. The Glock's are stock with no mods. I took the full length guide rod out of the 1911 and replaced it with a plug and traded out the recoil spring for an 18.5 pounder. With the new mods to the 1911, it and both of the Glock's have proven to be reliable, functioning guns.

Which of these guns makes most sense to shoot in USPSA with? With the G21 in Limited, I am competing against .40's with higher capacity and maybe or maybe not less recoil. With the G19 in Production, I'm shooting against full size guns with a longer sight radius. With the 1911, I figure everything will be apples to apples in Single Stack (with the exception that I could be shooting against some high dollar 1911's), but I'm less familiar with the 1911 platform than I am to Gaston's guns.

I'm leaning towards either the G21 since it's my duty weapon and this makes for some decent training OR the 1911 because....well, just because.

The match is tomorrow and includes a classifier, so I need to make up my mind...

Personally IF I had enough 19 mags id shoot the 19 ...

Id go 19, then 1911, then 21. Shooting the 21 youll have to do more mag changes than anyone else.

Really not that big of a deal on a classifier as most classifiers are pretty fairly easy in reguards to round count and mag changes. But as far as overall match goes its gonna hurt.

Shooting the 19 as long as you are profecient with it wont hurt since if you are shooting production you are changing a mag every time you move no matter what.

The urgency comes from the fact that they'll let me shoot only one gun in the classifier and I'd like to hurry up and get classified. And the three guns I have are each in a different division. So I've gotta pick one and try my damndest to stick with it so I don't have to get classified again.

Classifying is a pain in the ass because I've only got one or two ranges within an hour of here that shoot USPSA and they only shoot one STAGE of a classifier each month. Ie. its gonna take me 4 months to finally get classified. I can't afford to go from gun to gun.

9mm all the way, hits are hits and misses are your problem, the easiest way to get better is with a minor load of 40sw or 9mm, a G34/35 would be perfect, but the 19 will do just fine, 125k power factor ammo is almost cheating and is what the A and B class shooters shoot.

Thanks for the responses. They weren't what I thought they'd be, but that's why I asked. I was expecting to see more votes for the 1911 in single stack. If I may ask, what is the disadvantage with shooting in single stack?

*Edited to add*--> I'm not finding much talk on the interwebs about Single Stack, meaning it doesn't seem very popular...

I'd go 1911 in single stack personally. From an equipment standpoint the 1911 you have would be the least handicapped. Get some good reliable mags for it if you don't have them, and have fun.

Ended up shooting the G19. And did surprisingly well compared to what I thought I'd do. Found a bad magazine that took two stages to diagnose which one it was, but outside of that everything went better than expected.

Thanks, gents. Now time to start shopping for a G34.

I'd love to, but the place I shoot at REALLY frowns upon guys that try to shoot more than one gun. So much so that it's been a long time since I've seen a person do it. It just slows things down too much.

I'm about to put a deposit down on a G34 that has been ordered by my fun shop, but hasn't come in yet. Apparently they've had the G34 "LE" model on order for a while, but are waiting their turn to get one in stock at the $505 price. Figure I'll put down $50-$100 to get one reserved for me for when they do come in. Then I've gotta decide which sights to put on it...probably a Dawson Precision fiber optic front, but have no idea on a rear. I can't stand the squared off, white outline of the factory Glock adjustable rear sights.

Second the Sevigny sights, mine shoot just a tad high with 124's but are dead on with 115's. Next to the Vanek trigger the Sevigny sights were the best money spent for my 34.
