So I have a Mark 5 3.6-18x44, I have the chance to get a NF 3-15x50 NXS, which is a better optic in your opinions. I’m not sure I like the FFP of the Mark 5.

I've had two NXS and wasn't too impressed with its glass...the Mark 5 you have are solid optics. I personally prefer FFP...takes a lot of guessing work out of running the optic...you couldn't pay me money to switch back to a SFP optic as well as MOA...FFP/MRAD is just a lot more simple to run...

features are lacking
glass is lacking
SFP

it's an old outdated scope. it's been replaced with the ATACR and now NX8 in both SFP and FFP and that's just Nightforce offerings

for a $500 backup scope sure.

Whats with all the NXS bashing?
I find it to be a very capable scope, sure, its not a Schmidt & Bender but still a good and rock solid scope.
But given the choice, I do prefer FFP.

People forget that the NXS scope line has a reputation for being mechanically bulletproof. That counts for a lot to some.

The 3-15 NXS also comes in an FFP version. Not sure if that's what the OP is really meaning to compare? That would be a more fair comparison.

It is not bashing the NXS...there are just a lot better scopes out for the money or near the same amount as what NF is charging for the NXS line...

Serious question: Leupold scopes are known for going down faster than a cheerleader on prom night, has that changed in recent years?

For me, I don't give a rat's ass if the glass in my NXS is awesome, I know the thing tracks true and will probably be working long after I am in the ground. That said, Leupold does have that great warranty, and if you get a Loopy, you'll probably need that warranty. Most Leupold die-hards probably have a favorite repair technician they can ask for by name.

As crazy as it sounds...my go to optic on my SHTF rifle is a Leupold CQ/T ... that thing is built like a tank and covers all my needs for the rifle it is on ...

I know the Mk6 with the M5B2 turrets had issues but the M5C2 variants haven't had issues that I can recall...

Honestly, I've had issues with optics from NF to S&B to Bushnell to Vortex to Leupold to Trijicon and Steiner...but so far all of them had great warranty...

The worst luck I've had has been with Trijicon...EVERY SINGLE optic I received the last 5 years had some sort of quality control issue...so I am DONE with Trijicon for a while.

The only company I never had an issue with has been with Aimpoint products...

I prefer FFP. I would not trade my SFP NXS for the Leupold.

It’s still a good scope even if it’s outdated. It does have limitations so it’s probably not a good PRS scope nowadays. I’m ok with that.

Nxs is a good scope. But keep in mind its been around a long time. 10 years ago people would love to get there hands on one. In that 10 years though lots of equal or better scopes have been produced. If your keeping both id go for it a the right price. If you don't like it they do have a big following and definitely re-selable.
