So I bought this Aimpoint Micro R-1 from Midway because it was half price, and I had an EBR begging for a red dot. The website called it silver, which I took to be a painted-on finish. Turns out it's brushed bare metal.

At any rate, it needs camo and I have ZERO experience camo painting rifles or optics. What paint would you recommend? Flat black, OD, really makes no difference.

We use Krylon camo ultra-flat spray paint for all our sniper rifles and optics. can be bought at Walmart or any hardware store. Comes in OD green, tan, black and maybe brown?

I'd noticed that was the paint of choice on painted finish stuff but wasn't sure it would be the same with this brushed finish piece. The optic body might be clearcoated but the base definitely is unfinished bare metal so I thought it might need priming first. Since this probably will hose the warranty, I especially don't want to botch the job.

krylon is probably the cheapest and easiest. might want to hit it lightly with a scotch brite pad and rub with a degreaser before painting.
just remember, the krylon will wear off, knick and chip eventually. if you want something more permanent, i hear duracoat makes some good stuff, but i have no experience with it personally
