Which Pelican Case

I have a 260 with a 25.5" barrel in a McM A-5 stock, 1.5" of buttplate spacers and AMG on a 20moa base with NF UL 1.0" rings. Fit is great with 1" of foam behind the butt and 3.25" past the muzzle. Space for 6 magazines, sling, bipod, can bolt and cleaning rod. There's a big empty space I want to put a cleaning kit in, just haven't gotten around to it. Pretty sure the 300wm RWS is building for me with a T4A and 26" barrel will also fit, but I will probably get another just like this one. They stack exceptionally well. I am not really good with cutting foam, but it works.

Love that layout.

Here is my 6.5 Creedmoor with a 27" barrel plus brake in a Plano Field Locker Mil Spec double rifle case. It's a great case and not what you think of when you hear Plano of the past. It has a 54" internal length so plenty of room for long barrel rifles.

I need to check out those Plano cases. Still a bit chapped that an AI doesn't come with anything but a cardboard box.
Bonus point to Rob for having the rifle right side up in the case. Amazing how many (majority?) carry around their expensive rifles and optics upside down bouncing on the scope.

Exactly! ;)

Pelican 1750 is the most common size used around here. I own the Plano cases as well and can speak highly of them for the $. Only negative I can attest to is the foam on the Plan, it leaves a little to be desired. With the money you save, you could find some new foam and a professional to cut it to your spec. Pull and pluck foam doesn't last long before it starts to fall out with usual use. So if you actually use the rifle and it doesn't just sit in the closet consider the stock foam a right off. ROB1 what foam do you use in your case?

That's the factory foam in my case. It's a harder foam than others and it actually makes it easier to cut but still protects well.

I've heard of spraying plasti dip on the foam to increase the life of it... has anyone done/experienced this? Curious on the outcome.

I have used plasti dip on foam to attempt to increase the life of it. It didn't hold up for any appreciable time and the foam is still breaking down/tearing. It is a cheaper foam then what came with the Boyts case. I bought some replacement upholstery foam to do a second lay out and I used two cans on it to stiffen it up/waterproof it. Not sure if the failure is the application, the cheaper foam, or a combination of both. Perhaps it will work better on closed cell stiffer foam, but it doesnt' work for shit on upholstery foam.
