OK fellas. Building a long range target gun. It will wear a 40 MOA base that Lawton is making for me, and I will mount a 5.5x22x50MM NF on it. What size [height] rings do I need????? Thank you

Re: Which rings and height?

Please. Do some research on some different rings and READ THE STICKY AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM. I cant tell you how many times a week that same question gets asked.

As far as getting the height. diferent rings measure different ways, what kind rifle...etc, etc, so search the site and you will find a wealth of information.

Bryan

1.360" at the breech for the first 2.25" then slowly tapering off at .840". Basically the M350 cheytac barrel contour.

Re: Which rings and height?

Medium should work fine. The high or medium high like seekins has will work great. I always suggest having at least 1/8" between bell and barrel. If you have seen what happens when that guns goes off on a high speed camera, you wont want it to close to your barrel.

Re: Which rings and height?

When you go real high with the scope placement, it will induce quite a bit of fatigue on you while trying to maintain sight picture. You should be able to completely relax and have a full sight picture. This may require a stock pack or cheek riser to get you there.

Simple answer is, there is no simple answer. Trial and error until you get it just right. Try different things and see what works the best for you and your application.
