Rifle Scopes Which Rings are the best bang for the buck

Re: Which Rings are the best bang for the buck

I had been using Burris extreme rings and most have been fine, out of 5 pair I had one pair that were not quite right… I stumbled on to Warne Maxima’s both the quick detach and permanent, the quick detach are nice but more cash. The permanent mount is less than Burris and is very rugged and well built. That is what I am using now whenever I am mounting something new…

That is when I don’t want an all-encompassing (base and ring together) unit. I tried NF direct mount and while it is great and well-made, there lowest sits to high off the rifle for my 40mm and 50mm objective bells and that lead me to DNZ game reaper. As cheesy as the name is, the quality and strength are there and that will likely be all I use from this point forward when I need both a rail and rings, plus you save a little weight when combining it into one system and when compared to a rail and ring, you save a little cash. DNZ has both 0 moa and 20 moa units available.

The ARC rings are interesting. Is there any issue with the scope twisting when tightening it down due to the design? </div></div>

The Gen 2 designs do sometimes, it depends on how the scope tube is sized. I have 2 Vortex Razors that are on the "big side" and they both roll, as well as 1 of my NF scopes is "big" and it does too. The scopes that are nominal or a touch small in the tube don't roll. ARC's owner sent me a set from the first run of the new generation when I ordered the latest set.

I just finished the range testing of the new design, the issue is solved. I have a review on them coming in the next couple of days.

The RTZ on the ARC rings is nothing short of excellent in my opinion. The rifle that I used for the test is a mid 0.2's to low 0.3's rifle. The rings RTZ within the repeatability limits of the rifle.

When's the review out? I've not received the new gen rings yet but they will be the ones going on my TacOps Tango-51 when I do. I had my 3-12X56 Hensoldt in Leupold's and Seekins before and the Leupold's very slightly marred the finish on the underside even when mounted on just a .22LR (I used a torque wrench and followed all instructions). The Seekins were very nicely machined and light but the anodizing on the pair I had wasn't perfect and had flaked off around the a couple of the screws. When I saw the ARC M3 rings though, that was it for me.

Search for rings over.

Whenever I get my SS and Aadmount rings I'm going to do a test by shooting something like a 3-5 shot group after removing the scope between each shot. I'll let you know how it goes. I've never done a test like that, and don't know how helpful it will be, but it should at least give a good idea of how well they return to zero under the same conditions. Should I do 2 to 3, 2-3 shot groups between each removal to see if the second and third shot settle down from the first, or just a 5 shot group removing it between each shot? Test will be done using a 6mm Rem 700.

Re: Which Rings are the best bang for the buck

I got the Leupold PRW steel rings on an EGW aluminum base. The base would snap off the receiver before the scope loosens. Lots of folks like the single bolt design as it eases install n removal. I just keep the torx wrench that came with the rings in the stock pack, and im good to go. And with the exception of when I get a new barrel, I have no reason to remove the scope or base.

Badger's for me. Yea they are pricey but well worth the money IMO. And I don't want any aluminum for bases or rings.

Re: Which Rings are the best bang for the buck

I took delivery of a set of 30mm Seekins this week and I am super impressed. I can honestly say that I have two more sets of rings to buy, and they will also be Seekins.

Re: Which Rings are the best bang for the buck

Look in the group buy thread. The Seekins guy was going to offer 20 bux off and free shipping for orders over 100 ordering on his new site. That's a sweet deal on some sweet rings.

With that said I have some aadmounts on my rifle and I really like them. They are overkill in every area and I like that.

That's why I bought them.
