Which Safariland Holster?

Hey All,
Im trying to decide on a Safariland holster for my Kimber Custom 2. I like the 1.5" Drop models. I dont really want a thigh rig but I dont want a mid ride holster.
Im looking at the SLS 6285 and the ALS 6365. I like the 6365 but they dont show one for the Kimber. But they do show one for The Colt 1911. Would the Custom 2 fit?
The 6285 is made for the Custom 2 but the locking system is a bit different. Simpler. Which one do you think is better? Pros, cons? Which one is the best copromise between security and draw speed? The ALS system has several levers and switches and such that need to be manipulated to draw the weapon. Too complicated? Thoughts?

I'm a civilian and don't need Level III retention so I've been using 6280s and 6285s with my M&Ps. I really like the simplicity of the 62 series retention for my purposes. Make sure you get the right size loops (2" or 2-1/4") for your belt and use a really stiff belt (...there's got to by a punch-line coming with that one... ) with the 6285 or you'll have issue with the holster "flopping around" on your draw.

Was also wondering, is there any other non thigh holsters that have a small amount of drop? Basically I dont want a thigh rig but I want the rearward most end of my 1911's grip to be no higher than the top of the belt its hooked to. Its going on a HSGI sure grip belt for tac match. Thoughts?

I agree a 6280 would be more than ok for range use, I Carry a 6360 Als holster and it isn't too complicated to work after some training, it's a hood release then a button you push with your thumb, I got it down to one fluid motion to disengage it all. I have a 6280 on a drop flex adapter and a single strap shroud, works great and doesn't give you the same issues as a normal thigh rig.

I can't remember the model number but I have the one with a 1.5 inch drop. The lowest one that is not a drop leg. It is a good height to draw and reholster easily with or without gear. I do not like drop legs for long term field use or long movements on foot.

Mine has the hood and the release lever on the left side. I have been using safariland for years and I think the extra retention lever release is overkill for retention. With just the hood I was faster and never once had a retention problem after wearing it daily for a couple of years.

To use it now and maintain the same level of speed I keep the hood forward and just use the lever. Still a great holster, I would just go without the lever retention. Also call Safariland to see what fits your specific pistol. They have a 1911 holster that fits the Kimberly with or without a rail.
