I’m trying to decide what scope rings to go with on my new rifle. i have a Rem 700 5R milspec 308. i have a NF 5.5-22 x 56mm scope that I’m going to be putting on it. i bought the Larue picatinny rail and Larue QD LT-104 scope mount. the Larue QD LT-104 is just not going to work for me on the rifle. it’s too big and bulky and just doesn't look like it belongs on the bolt action.

so which scope rings would you suggest and what height

Thanks
AY

Hard to go wrong with Seekins. Quality product, and he kicks down lots of handouts to matches. Every piece of gear I've bought of his I really loved.

Re: Which scope rings?

Thanks....i was reading on another thread about the Seekins and they seem to be pretty good.... i guess i need to measure how high the rail is and then see what the dimension of the scope is and figure out which height to get

Re: Which scope rings?

I don't know how your barrel compares to my stock ADL el cheapo barrel, but I went to stick my new 56mm IOR glass on mine with medium rings, and they were way too high. With the medium rings the objective was 0.350 above the barrel. I hope you can use some of this info.

Re: Which scope rings?

yes thanks for the info......i think i'm going with seekin low which is 0.82" from center to top of rail. the Larue rail is about 0.4" so that should give me 1.22" from center or rings to top of barrel.... 56mm bell is 2.204" /2 = 1.102 so that should give me right at 0.118" clearance.

i might go with a taller one so that i can put on a flip up scope cover...

Re: Which scope rings?

Check with Scott at Liberty Optics. He is a Seekins dealer and he can help you out with the height that you'll need for the 56mm scope.
All of the Seekins stuff I've gotten from Scott has been first class.

Re: Which scope rings?

You must check out the custom rings built by grunningprecision.com. The are literally bulletproof. I will be mounting a set on the custom rifle he is building me.

WOW those are expensive. The good shit usually is, though. Looks like a top notch piece of hardware, though.

Re: Which scope rings?

well i'm going with the seekins. probably going to go with med-high to make sure i have enough space for a flip up scope cover.

does anyone know what size of scope cover i will need for the eye peace on the NF 5.5-22 x 56mm

Re: Which scope rings?

I have Badger, Seekins, and TPS steel rings on my rifles. Seekins are my favorites. Top notch quality, light, no sharp edges, and what I think is a very elegant design. The Badger and TPS rings are also of very high quality too and you couldn't go wrong with either of them. Seekins has been much better lately about keeping standard stuff like rings in stock. For TPS stuff, I would only get it from one of the dealers that supports the Hide because customer service and communications from TPS is spotty at best. If you get if from a dealer they will take care of the customer service.

Tell that to my bud that's been waiting for a set of 1 inch rings from seekins for the past two plus months.

Though I have to say it's worth the wait. I use seekins and see no reason to get another brand.

have to go with that high mounts....the NF 56mm has a outside dimension of 65mm for the bell and 43mm for the eye piece
