Which should I choose?

I’m sure it’s been debated on here but I’ve been debating in my head for months and tomorrow I have to make a choice and I just can’t settle on one, I need some opinions, I’ve read good and bad about all of them I have 3 guns to choose from, the choices are a ruger precision in 6.5 creedmoor for $1250 new, a used savage 110 elite in 308 for $1450, and a new Christensen arms modern precision rifle with a 22 inch steel barrel In 6.5 creedmoor for $1700. Let me know what you would go with out of those 3 , please no other suggestions I already have a hard time choosing out of these 3 lol ....it’s going to be used for shooting long range and hunting I’m young I don’t walk far when I hunt so weight is not my concern at the moment, thanks and let me know what you think

I started with an RPR, it is a decent rifle for the money. The rifle makes it easy to swap some parts, such as the barrel, stock and handguard. However, that is all the rifle will every be, you cannot just drop the action in a whole new chassis.

I hear a lot of good things about the Savage, but it is still a little rough around the edges. Swapping the barrel is even easier than the RPR, Savage has good aftermarket support, and you can put the action into different stocks/chassis if you want in the future.

I have heard mixed reactions to the Christensen arms modern precision rifle, I have no personal experience with it.

Bergara hmr and scrap that other junk. Also I bought a brand new rpr in 6 creedmoor from precision rifle division on here a year ago for 925 that’s a shitty deal

Agree 8,000% ... get the Tikka T3x TAC A1 in 6.5-CM ... the RPR is a "settle for it" rifle. The Tikka is a better rifle, and a better value, and puts 1,200 yards in your range all day long. The answer to your two questions is (a) 6.5-CM, and (b) Tikka.

Get the CTR if you want cheap hunting style, get the TAC A1 if you want more chassis range style

Or start off cheaper with the CTR and get an aftermarket stock for it.

The RPR is a solid gun, but as others have said it will always be a RPR. I bought a Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5 for 1550ish 3 years ago and that was a fantastic gun and the bolts are glassy smooth. .5" groups with handloads and sub-moa with most factory loadings out of the factory barrel. It lives in a Cadex chassis now. Buying a Tikka CTR wouldnt be a bad move and then picking whatever chassis system you want like KRG.

Prior to the Tikka I had a Bergara HMR which I was thoroughly unimpressed with. Bolt would bind at certain angles, magazines would lock the bolt if you put pressure on them, cheek riser would collapse under recoil, and the barrel loosened on me. It was a little under MOA accurate, so thats good, but I kinda expect that out of any gun in this category tbh.

I've known some people who really like their savage rifles but I feel like the Tikka rifles are not that much more expensive and have a better action design.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve looked at tikka’s and every time I find one it’s $1800-$2200 , in a chassis, So i dont know if I’m missing something or what, that’s what I always read on forums is go with the tikka tac a1 etc etc it’s cheaper and has better action it’s smooth like butter but I’ve never seen one for sale in a chassis under 1800

When I bought my long action I almost went with a tikka but bolt run on the burger was so much smoother I have never got to feel both of the short actions though so that’s interesting.
either way Tikka or Bergara is a much better option I recommend it to everybody just getting started.

It's much better ... I too am a "RPR" survivor, and went with the Tikka and got stunningly better results. (The RPR Survivor 12-Step Program is Tuesdays at 11:30am at the local Moose Lodge.)

I'll follow the herd though, because their comments are valid. Look at a Tikka or a Bergara. Both have fanboys, but both have a good value and will last you for a long time. The tip for me goes to Bergara due to customer service and company values, but a Tikka is every bit as good.

I have had 3 RPRs, sold 2 and the third has the receiver left as the only stock part. They are okay for a plinker or starter, but for maybe $900 used max. To pile on, (and maybe my assumption is wrong) for anyone who found their way to the Hide, they are going to want more soon. Save your money, get a better rifle for $1K (Tikka or Bergara) and spend the rest on a class.

I'd not get a chassis on a first rifle. Go with a stocked version, experiment with what you like and down the road, drop the barreled action into a chassis you prefer. I went through 4 chassis before I fould the few I like. They are a personal thing more than the barreled action part.

The factory barrel. At the time when I was looking into getting it fixed they were having a ton of QC issues people claimed were due to switching manufacturing facilities. Someone else offered to buy it for 29 bucks less than I bought it new and I never saw it again. IDK its not a bad gun but I kinda realized it was kinda a compromise rifle. Kinda heavy for a hunting gun (although I lug my cadex tikka to take hogs with) but not as heavy as you'd want for a PRS type rifle.

If you need to save the money, the Tikka T3X CTR is usually right around the $1k mark give or take a bit depending on the deal you find.
It is great rifle out of the box for hunting & range work & is already setup to be magazine fed.

Then when more money comes in, you can easily swap it into one of the many aftermarket chassis that are available.

If you have the money for the TAC A1 then go for it, but if not, you can easily build up from the cheap CTR

Thanks yeah I see them all the time without the chassis sometimes even under $1000, I constantly surf gunbroker and armslist and other sites daily but I’ve been saving to buy one in a chassis right out of the box I should of clarified that. if I were to go that route of putting it in the chassis system I like I’d still be right around 1600-2000 so I would just fork out the money now to get it one

I have a Wilderness Terrain and my son has a HMR, both in 6.5CM. Around $1000, pick your poison. They have other choices as well. With stocks being so personal, if you love the chassis your .30-06 is in, you could get a Bergara or Howa barreled action and just drop it in.

To be clear I’m not a fan boy for them I shoot an impact but if I was going to budget route this one right here would be the one I chose and it is in stock and ready to ship. Tax on their site is 8.5% so it will be right around 1050 I think but I think it’s a much better deal than what you are going to get into with the others.

I bought a Tikka Super Varmint 6.5 Creedmoor, slapped it in a GRS Bifrost stock, it's an accurate and comfortable rig.

Here's my Tac A1 with the oem chassis and with the Cadex Defence chassis.
I can stick people with virtually no experience on either of these systems and get them shooting at 1000m respectfully well by the end of an hour.

It's pretty hard to beat a Tikka.
I am unashamedly biased towards Tikka.
The "Poor Man's Sako" is a bloody nice rifle.
I own a TRG and an AI, but the Tikka is my go to rifle.
And the latest Super Varmint has a Cerakote covering....... nice!
