#1- Alaska.

All 50 states ranked by murder, violent crime rates - USA Today

https://www.usatoday.com › story › money › 2020/01/13

Jan 13, 2020 — Dangerous states: Which states have the highest rates of violent crime ... Vermont had the lowest robbery rate in the country in 2018 with ...
New Mexico finished #2 based on 2018 statistics but give us a few years and we'll blast right by Alaska once the full effects of bail reform is felt. It will however be short lived once Illinois's new laws take effect. But not to worry NM will still continue to rank 50th for all other rankings. Can't fix stupid.

Arkansas and Tennessee being in the top 5 threw me for a loop... Until they listed the most dangerous cities... Memphis and West Memphis. And then it made more sense.

I can't speak for TN, but Little Rock and Ft. Smith probably don't help Arkansas' rankings either... Otherwise it's a great state to get away to

It's criminal how a handful of shitholes can wreck the standing of 2 nice places.

NM is a really poor state with limited resources. You cant make a gold purse out of a sow's ear. Lack of education and healthcare, lack of seeing a future, can make people do stupid things.

To us that are east of Jackson TN we'd make a great deal on selling Memphis to anyone interested.

Now do cities.

FUUUUUUCK! This is bullshit. WE SHOULD BE #1! Not #2 behind Detroit. We have a secret weapon, Soros elected, second term Kim Gardner who is free to release all violent criminals and run illegal operations against a sitting governor. We shall regain the title of most dangerous city in the USA, now with a dwindling population of 300,000 mostly criminals in St. Louis City.

We are a poor state for a whole number of reasons but we do have an abundance of natural resources including the second largest oil reserve in the lower 48. But the state has been run as a banana republic even prior to its statehood in 1912. Nearly 50% of the land area is government held and at one time was used as a resource but over the years restrictions pushed by environmental groups has negated any benefit. The vast majority of employment is public sector and combined with influence of the liberal elites in Santa Fe has made this state a regulatory nightmare for the private sector and not a single fortune 500 company calls NM home.. If not for the extractive industries and DOD facilities we would still be in the 19th Century. Don't get me wrong I love NM and where I live but not for the ability to be gainfully employed outside the state I would not have stayed.

100% Democrat-run
Who'd have guessed an ideolgy completely based on avoiding personal responsibility and/or getting freebies would result in massive crime rates?
Advancing the notion of killing babies as an empowering choice to avoid the consequences of randomly sleeping around, yet being shocked when some disaffected person seeks empowerment by killing larger blobs of cells.
Can't be a lefty w/o being a hypocrite.

Trust me, you do not want to go to Memphis, unless you’re strapped

I knew we would be top 10. With Birmingham alone it would put us up there. Obviously, there are several commonalities to all dangerous places/cities, that we all know, regardless of what state they are in.

You have to remember that the FBI does it by county, and Cook County is one of the largest and most populous counties in the country. It is absolutely crazy gigantic running from North of Joliette to within striking distance of Wisconsin. There is an ENORMOUS amount of peaceful rural areas to dilute the foetid cesspool of disease that is Chicago, one of the most corrupt places on earth.

New Mexico was bad in 2018 but with 4 years under the just re-elected governor we have fought and clawed our way to dead last in the nation in just about all categories. Recently released school statistics show only 13% of students leaving the 8th grade are literate. Throw out the Rio Grande Corridor cities and the state is a pretty safe place. If not for petroleum and federal government money the state would cease to exist.
