Who are the bolt knob guys on here?

    I checked thru 7 pages of the "commercial section" and the only one I found that did the oversized bolt knob installs was AZ Presicion. I know in the past I've seen atleast one other guy on here doing them with some pretty fast turn around time. Can someone please tell me who does this and who you all think is the best.

    Well Im prolly going to send two bolts, both will be Rem 700 bolts so nothing out of the ordinary.

    A week sounds good to me. I figured GAP would take too long since...well since its GAP and everyone wants GAP work done. Im going to call a few of the places tomorrow and see who has the best deal on two bolts and who can give me some decent turn around time, but a week is or would be great.

    Had Mark with Short Action Customs do a FNH bolt with a regular Badger knob and the work was superb, the knob flows into the handle perfectly. The turn around was less than a week as promised.

    While not as sexy looking as the tapered ones here one of the most effective conversions I have ever seen was done my Mitch Maxberry (several time National Highpower Champ) when he put a phenolic black plastic tool knob on a 700. The ones with the brass threaded insert to screw on tool handles (like end of drill press handles). I watched him work it rapid fire and he was slick. I tried it left handed which will tell you right quick how efficient something is and it was very effective in rapid fire manipulation.
    He took bolt knob down with a mill just leaving a stub and he threaded it with a die and screwed on the plastic knob and he was good to go.
    I have dipped Mod 70 knobs in tool handle goop several times increasing the side of the knob and it is very effective in bolt operation in rapid fire. About four dips will about double the size.

    Depending on where you are in Oklahoma, Gene Williams is in Princeton, Tx (north Texas close to Mckinney) and does a good job. I provided the bolt knob when he did mine. He doesnt mill down the existing knob and thread it. He cuts the knob off and then drills and taps a hole in the end of the handle. Inserts a stud that is threaded on each end then threads the new knob on. Sturdy, looks and performs well. He said he does that because he had experience with the threads breaking off if the old knob was milled and threaded. If you want his number I can PM it to you. He charged me $70 if i remember correctly. Done in 1 day.
