Gunsmithing Who built my rifle?

Re: Who built my rifle?

I know it was barreled by Harry Pope after he came back in a time warp. The action was redone by Frank Pachmayr (on the same UFO with Pope) and the stock was made by Al Biesen. (the UFO was really crowded as JFK and Hitler were also coming back for a bridge game in Switzerland.) You can see it all at your nearest supermarket tabloid rack.

This is the rifle...right?

No worries. Glad I could help. Hope your day gets better.

Cheers.

Re: Who built my rifle?

did ya buy it or have it built?? in this post you say someone built you it, but if it was LRHunter as it appears from the other post, that says it was a transaction, as if you bought it.

HUGE difference. I bought guns from people on here and probably couldn't name a single one of them now, but I sure as hell know any smith that's worked on my guns.

if you worded it wrong, no big deal, but don't get pissy because people reacted to your poor wording. i said the same thing at first response- "you dont know who you had build your phucking gun?!?!" buying and building is different.

Re: Who built my rifle?

*Side Story* I used to work in a warehouse and one of the sales guys for the company had the habit of coming into the warehouse, holding up a plain brown box from across the room and shouting... What is this?!(Expecting someone to know what was inside the box) This thread reminds me of that. LOL

OK. I have a few that were apparantly built by non-reputable smiths. I personally don't want bullshit on my barrel. I have one with a smith's name/logo on it and I wish to hell it wasn't there; although, it does shoot better than most with the same name on it.

If it functions and shoots that will eliminate some

Agreed, self-egrandisement does not a good smith make. Assine comment--but consider the source.

Re: Who built my rifle?

If you have so little confidence in your quality or reputation that you won't put your name on the product (even on the bottom of the bbl under the stock), then I don't don't want your product.

Always remember my 64' Porsche Carrera (wish I still had it!). The Engine was SIGNED by the ONE craftsman who built the whole thing BY HAND. Guess he was not ashamed of his workmanship!

Wonder why a 1 of 1000 Winchester 73' is worth more than an "unmarked" one?

I hope you are not under the impression than one person "built" that entire car.

I can understand your feeling that way, but I feel that if you MUST put your name on there, then I don't want your product. I think there are plenty of smiths out there that will build a rifle without "signing" it.

Re: Who built my rifle?

There's no signature on my AI. Maybe I should send it back. No. Wait. Maybe I'll send it to someone and have him sign it. That'll fix it. Phew: That was close.

Re: Who built my rifle?

I have a couple rifles built by one of the most well-regarded smiths on this site. Guess what--he failed to mark his territory.

I guess that means he has no faith in his builds! WOW there are a shit-load of LEO and military who better return their rifles as this smith has no faith in his work!!

Mr. Humble--time to change your handle again...how about "Mr. Know-it-all"!!

It is true. Here is Mr. Humbles collection of Colts.

Long action slides of course.

Look close at the barrel to see who's name he uses, and sometimes screams.

Re: Who built my rifle?

Well folks, I don't have Randy's name ON my rifle but his prints were all over it. Does that count?
The smith HAS to sign it.......WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!
Remingtion and Winchester have their names on allot of rifles and shotguns, that don't mean they will shoot for shit...........
Respectfully,
LG

Re: Who built my rifle?

I can't take full credit. I received this in an email with the pass phrase that activated my Manchurian Candidate response. In fact, I vaguely have a recollection of posting it.

Watch it Scout! I just burned 2 FN's I got from you, or maybe I dumpstered them. The rifle gods will get you for this. My wife still looks at porn, she thinks she is being sneaky, I catch her often! LOL
