Yes ita a wonderful accurate hunting caliber. I never meant to buy one but after borrowing one from a friend few years back I just had to get me one and now its the rifle I grab most often. I usually walk for miles with my rifle, thus looking for a foldable stock to put it in a backpack. My handloads measure around 2,91 COL so they might work with a shorter magazine if Id really wanted to make this work.....maybe?
As good as the XLR idea sounds, maybe its just too heavy after all as you say.......</div></div>
2.91" COL is do-able, but you'll need to either modify an AICS mag (remove the spacer), or run Alpha Type-2 mags (

I'm in love with the XLR chassis -- but possibly a little heavy for a pack/carry hunting rifle.
You might want to ask Kyle if/when they'll start making the new carbon fiber model for actions other than Rem 700
