Who in the Bear Pit Can Pass a NY Handgun Background Check?

We as the gun community just don’t have very good messaging to the non gun community who’s minds we can change, but we are getting better. The simple fact is there are a good portion of the non gun community that are terrified of people that carry guns, own lots of guns, and buy thousands of rounds of ammo at a time. They are simply ignorant of the fact that those who do the three things above are not only their smallest threat but very well could prove to be their savior in any given circumstance.

The facts are very simple, law abiding citizens apply for carry permits and criminals and mass shooters do not, law abiding citizens often will have multiple firearms, and law abiding citizens buy large amounts of ammo because they plan to be using it over time while mass shooters are happy enough with a few boxes of ammo.

The media has done a bang up job promoting ridiculous gun myths, and we’ve done a terrible job of dispelling them one person at a time. But it’s just not guns, the media promotes every asinine socialist idea while downplaying anything resembling common sense. We spend to much time arguing with people who have their own agenda to ban guns or implement name the ridiculous socialist idea here no matter what the facts are, and to little time talking to people who are simply misinformed and who’s minds can easily be changed.

Simply put we are up against a media machine that past propaganda masters would envy. The answer is already happening on it’s own, we are seeing new gun owners in numbers we haven’t seen in decades, and we are seeing the woke culture implode before our eyes. While I support organizations like GOA on the legal front, the real fight will be fought and won by converting the people we meet everyday to our cause.

I don’t know how this mess will turn out in the end, but something will have to give, it’s simply not possible for a nation this divided to survive. Laws such as New York from the op are so much bigger than guns, when presented with the facts on gun violence there isn’t a reasonable person without a agenda that would argue that guns laws have very little to do with criminal gun violence, and much more to do with a systematic conversion to socialism.

The only reason we haven’t seen a Chinese revolution type take over of our government is the 2nd amendment. The storm is coming, I hope we somehow come to our national senses before it hits, if not I cannot see the 40% willing to cede their freedom in exchange for food delivery and Amazon dominating the 35% willing to defend their freedom at all costs, with the remaining 25% sitting on their futons wondering what happened and waiting for a social influencer to tell them what to think. I truly believe we overestimate our enemies strength which relies only in paper orders and paid enforcers, and underestimate everyday the power of a group of strong people who at some point will collectively say we have had enough.
Before the falling out the NRA push with folks like Colin Noir was great. Great.

It was and like I said we are getting better, and your right people like Colin and Crowder are worth their weight in gold. The biggest issue I think we have is we only seem to argue with the most irrational anti gun people we can find rather than just talk to normal people. You rarely win anything arguing with a idiot, and we pick the most asinine idiots to argue with most of the time, I’m as guilty as most. Crowders and others like him campus discussions and quasi town halls are the way to go, not trying to out stupid the Michael Moore’s of the world.

Apparently this guy passed because he was conceal carrying on the street 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

“You don’t want to do this. I work for the mayor,” victim Christopher Baugh, 33 reportedly said before being thrown to the ground.

The Post notes, “But in a show of utter contempt, they ignored the warning, with one man lifting his shirt to display the butt of a pistol tucked into his pants, the source said.”

New Yorkistan at it again…. Now there’s going to be 9 months with NO classes being taught… I hate this state

This isn’t exactly related to the new background check requirements for the new New York gun law. However what happened to this gentleman does dovetail with what the government will use against a person. Furthermore, this grandfather should disown his granddaughter.

SH, Glock Talk, and The Firing Line are the only forums I visit, and I don't have Fake Book or any other social media account. I use a screen name for all three so good luck figuring out if I have social media. Not that I give two fucks anyway, but if I did live in a commie state, I would just tell them I don't do social media.
If you have internet service at your house, then you have an ISP address which can be traced.

I've lived in & visited more states than the average guy, yet in 58 years, NY is one of the few I haven't been to, nor feel any desire to visit...
I’d probably like upstate NY but I most likely won’t ever be going back.

A few years ago we went on vacation to the east coast. My wife grew up in PA and would vacation somewhere on the Jersey shore. They stayed in the same house every year, it was owned by some family friends. We stayed in that same house for about a week. Most of her family was there and we let her daughter bring a friend along. We also stayed a few nights in Manhattan and took the girls to a broadway play. It was a good trip and I had a good enough time. But…

I’m glad I got to experience NYC, I guess. It was fucking noisy, it smelled, and there were too many people everywhere we went. And it wasn’t just too noisy, it was noisy all the time. We went to bed pretty late one night and even then there was a garbage truck below us picking up a fucking mountain of trash bags. Times Square was a sardine tin at all times, 24/7.

Like I said, I’m glad I’ve experienced at least a sliver of NYC but I doubt I’ll ever go back

Never happen. You do realize that federal gas taxes have been suspended to provide the illusion that creepy Joe is doing something, because he is.

After the election is another story.

Already $8/gallon some places here in California. If federal gas taxes have been suspended, it certainly isn't being reflected here. Unless the state has increased taxes to compensate, or gas stations have increased prices to pocket the difference.

I don’t honestly know about California, but if I had to guess, they have added more cost there. Remember that the goal in Cali is to eliminate fossil fuels at any cost (to the taxpayer and consumer).

Gas prices in Florida, while never anywhere near prices in Cali, do reflect the lower price without fed tax.

URGENT: NJ LAWMAKERS
ANNOUNCE PLANS TO
DESTROY RIGHT TO CARRY

Please Immediately Contact All Legislators!

October 13, 2022. At a press conference today, legislative leaders in the New Jersey state house announced plans to attack and destroy right to carry, in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent Bruen decision upholding right to carry and making it impossible for states like New Jersey to continue blocking issuance of carry permits.

Although text of proposed legislation was not available when this alert was prepared, legislative leaders described its features, and it sounds strangely similar to (if not worse than) New York’s anti-carry law passed this summer, which was recently stopped in its tracks by an injunction issued by the usually-anti-gun federal district court there.

According to lawmakers, they plan to:

-Ban carry in common public places by labeling them as “sensitive places” (plainly forbidden by Bruen)

-Ban carry inside one’s own car (plainly forbidden by Bruen);

-Ban carry on commercial and private property, unless the property owner posts notices allowing it (plainly unconstitutional);

-Massively increase fees for permits (plainly forbidden by Bruen, and discriminates against low-income citizens);

-Mandate special insurance (which may not even be available) as a pre-condition to exercise constitutional rights (plainly unconstitutional);

-Mandate a new, unusual training requirement (beyond the already-difficult one that has existed for decades) – raises serious constitutional questions.

“These attacks by New Jersey lawmakers are a big middle finger to the U.S Supreme Court,” said ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach. “These lawmakers have no respect for the Constitution or the rule of law – they focus on attacking citizens’ rights while setting violent criminals free. We look forward to overturning these measures in court and forcing the state to pay our legal fees.”

Upstate NY is beautiful and mostly full of strong independent people outside of the large cities.
Not sure what qualifies as a large city but everywhere I’ve been outside of liberal enclaves is just as much trump country as the deepest south.

If NY split in two, the upper state would be a pretty decent place to live.
