Steven Spielberg was a very astute student of history. The analogy is not supposed to be there... because it’s not an analogy. It is a 100 percent copy and for good reason! Speilberg copied the 1920s ascent of the Nazis up to and including some of the Reichstag speeches that were translated and used in the movie. He was not trying to allude to something, he simply used history exactly.
Further, It is not an analogy, it was a warning. A very clear warning for anyone who understands history.
Spielberg may be a Hollywood freakntype, but his fathers family family was from Poland and was virtually wiped out in the Holocaust. His father fought in WW 2 in the Pacific and India. Not front line... but he was there and deployed for the whole conflict having joined after Pearl Harbor. Spielberg gets it. And he puts in things like the JarJar stiff all the time if you can recognize it.

When I speak with leftists, especially young ones, it becomes immediately apparent that they have zero historical context for socialism, communism, or Marxism. My take on this is that history is inconvenient to our current communist movement afoot in America. Our neo-Marxist liberal educational system has simply stopped teaching the topic.
Communism is most certainly taught (part of the indoctrination process), but not in the form of history. When speaking of genocide, famines, and brutal police states I am met with blank and disbelieving stares.
To fully appreciate AOC et. al., the historic antecedent must be as clearly understood as possible. Unfortunately, we are mired in a culture of stunning historical ignorance. And we are paying a toll whose final tally will be gruesome unless a state of national sobriety should begin to settle in.
The Holocaust is but one of many similar historical examples of why the Second is a natural right of man yet again and again people want to give it away.
