what powder do you like, and what velocities are ya getting,

I threw some loads together.. i'm launching this thing from a gps defense rem700 18". Since i have a ton h335. i'm gonna try that. I hear r15 and TAC work well too?

just want to see what ya'll are getting?!

I tried the "old" 155gr SMK Palma bullet and did not get great accuracy out of an LTR (20" 1-12tw barrel). I tried H4895 and Varget and also tried several different seating depths that all fit within magazine length. I didn't try to load them way out there where they wouldn't fit in the magazine, so they may or may not have shot better there.

Its been a while, but I seem to recall that I couldn't get them any faster than 2700-2750fps. Thats from memory of testing done over a year ago. I could be mistaken, but I do remember that I quit testing not only because accuracy was sub-par, but velocity wasn't where I wanted it to be either.

I just picked them up the othear day and only used them on a ladder with Varget and 4064. Once I can get some real loads done we will see.

i tried the new 155 palma but my rifle hates them. it loves the old 155 though. 2900-2950 with varget. i have also had these velocities with surplus imr4895 but it is pretty hot. about 2850 is far more comfortable. been wanting to try some R15 but just havnt come across any yet. i have 90 of the new 155 palma i would let go if you want to try them.

My rifle shoots the old ones just fine (at 2950 fps +/-) with Varget in Win cases. Don't know about the new ones.

My rifle also shoots the 155 Scenars very well. When this batch of scenars runs out, I may give the new SMKs a try.

i'm using new Winchester brass, f210m primers, i loaded 3 round batches at 39.8 , 42.5 , and 43.8gr of H335. ( my rcbs powder measure is getting old. i need to upgrade to a comp measure.)

then i have some m118 and m118LR to try as well!

chuck </div></div>How are you getting that fast with those? I can get up to around 2850 with 47 gr of Varget but trying for 47.5 and it fills the entire case. I'd love to push mine faster. I have a 24" barrel.

I just ordered up 500 because a test box of the new 2156's shot as well/better than my pet load, VV150, Berger 155 match in my TRG 22. My load not chroned yet 47 gr Varget, Win brass neck sized .002 neck tension, Fed primer, 3.240" to ogive. Printed 1.25" higher @ 600 than VV load and it is running 2840FPS. 5 shot test groups .5" MOA @ 600. No pressure signs in my rifle book shows 47gr MAX. The TRG DID NOT like the old 155 Palma's.

Old, base to ogive with Stoney Point: 1.569", OAL:1.146". New, BTO: 1.544", OAL: 1.195". I'm sure there are other differences but these are basic two.

In addition to the above, the new one is "pointed" from the factory. Ups the BC a bit.

I will never touch 175s again.....

Sierra has finally started to dip into the Scenar crowd. I have a scenar load too but these seem to shoot better for me.

Until you get a 1/10 twist barrel and go "WOW" - the problem with 175's is that a 1/12 twist barrel is just not quite enough twist, IMHO, for a 175..

I was impressed when I shot some 168's and they were TIGHT...

155's always did well out of my rifle thou gh, iron sights out shot my scoped rifle

175s shoot just fine in my 1-12 however it's hard to argue agianst simular to just a bit higer bc, more fps, less recoil...ect.

155s are the way to go in my opinion. Whether they are scenars, palmas, bergers....

My DPMS LR-308 loves the old Palma 155's. Getting 2840 out of a 24" barrel using 45 gr. RL-15. 3/4" groups at 100, 1.5" at 200 and so forth out to 800. It shoots the 175 SMK ok but not as well as the old 155. New 155 not so much although shoots well out of bolt gun.

I was out today testing various oal's, your correct they jumped fine.
