Good afternoon, gents. What has happened is that the final run of GP 11 having been made in 1995, all that was left was what was in the armories in Switzerland. The majority of that is now made its way into the United States over the past 10 years, and it would appear that the majority of GP 11 ammunition is being stalked by Edelweiss Arms.
There are three Edelweiss satellite stores here in the US, and the mother company is
http://www.gunshopschweiz.ch/Manufacturer/Products?mainCategoryId=17&manufacturerId=1363 in Switzerland. I'm not sure if they are larger than Wiss Waffen in Burgdorf Switzerland, but they are both manufacturers of firearms and incredible selection of accessories for all kinds of Swiss rifles including the ultra-modern ones. My man did to that Kriss is temporarily closed due to the COVID 19
Kriss has been buying up both Swiss rifles and all of the GP 11 ammunition they can get their hands on right there in Switzerland. The rifles and the ammunition are relatively inexpensive, particular the rifles, but they are all then shipped one of the three satellite stores here in the US where they are marked up to whatever Edelweiss thinks the market will bear. That can be a bit higher than you would think considering what they paid for these items.
Bern is once again manufacturing GP 11 ammunition as I think I already told you on one occasion, and the only difference between the new run and the old is that the new run does not have the wax ring meant for storage. Unfortunately, they are also still Berdan primed, so.... Now for the questionable part. I have not yet heard from my representative in Switzerland about the following question that I posed him, that being "is the new GP 11 going to be available in the United States or just in Europe and Canada?"
I already know that it is in Canada it's for shooting clubs and it's rather common throughout Europe in Swiss shooting clubs, but as of yet none has arrived here in the US. If and when it does, I would guess that Edelweiss will probably be the advance sales but I have heard that that is nothing more than a rumor and that the new run GP 11 may not be imported. I'm fairly certain they have something in mind for the American market, but I'm not yet privvy to exactly what that is, but my man in Switzerland will certainly inform me as soon as he has a solid answer. Norma and Prvi Partisan is still making it, but it's not real easy to find. As soon as I hear something positive, I will fill you gents in.
