Who likes Goodyear tires?

Goodyear is to police tires as Glock is to police firearms. In the 14 years that I was in law enforcement I never had a vehicle with anything but Goodyear tires. That includes my undercover rides. They will never say something from corporate that would appear to be against law enforcement. They are too scared to lose those contracts. Notice that they didn’t say what that slide was from and they dodged much of the issue. That speaks volumes to me.

I’m a fan of Duratrac’s and Endurance trailer tires. I personally do not think there are direct competitors to those two lines of tires out there, but I’ll be looking hard in a few years...

Long ago & far away. In the very early 70’s I graduated from the University of Akron. I worked for Goodyear tire in what they called the college shift. You got a few hours a week to help with tuition, food, and gas. You were hired with the knowledge that was never going to lead to a full time job but just help out getting thru college. I thought I was so cool working for them because they made the racing tires. The only people that made out like a bandit were the engineers/students that majored in polymer science at Akron.

Now after reading they have gone full leftist I just shake my head. Will listen to others that have posted about Cooper tires as the Mrs.’s Jeep JK needs 4 tires for the Winter driving season.

A few years ago I looked up my old Akron address, 519 Kling St. off of Brown. Paid $50.00 a month rent. Fortunately, the rat hole was torn down.

Continental, and general are american made. I have been running general grabber xt2's on my wore-out silverado for years. Considering the semi aggressive tread pattern, they're relatively quiet and wear pretty good. When I need new shoes, they'll be the first thing I look at.

Same here. Toyo on the F250 and Cooper ST Maxx on the SUV. Really loving the Coopers. Crazy good off road for how well mannered they are on-road. Also not bad at all in snow.

I ran nothing but Toyo Ats on my 05 cummins for years. bought a new 3500, got to 25k on the shitty factory firestones, dropped it at discount, told them to put the Toyo Ats on like the last 4 sets id bought for my diesel. came back that afternoon, and they had Toyo Ats on them, but they were knobby as hell, really aggressive. i was unhappy about it. The guy said, "yeah, they changed the tread pattern to be more aggressive because thats what people want". i replied its probably nothing but mall crawlers and pavement pounders and he knew it was. I had to go out of town right then, had a 600 mile round trip. Road manners were terrible, loud as could be, mushy with the slightest movement of the wheel. I took them back and had them taken off. Toyo ruined a great tire.

im hoping its like the red bull situation where the the ceo fired everyone involved

that was incredible. epic company management.

For mud you can't beat the Toyo MT unless you give up street manners.

For winter, buy a real snow tire. If you insist on a/t's, the Toyo a/t3 is severe service rated. Brand new though, so you won't find reviews yet.

see above. toyo got too aggressive with their AT. i did abuse a couple of sets of MTs on my ranch truck . GREAT tires. no flats ever, wore like iron. cleaned out good in mud. great tire. only reason i replaced is i got some pretty deep rock cuts on the side wall and they were 6 years old. i was worried they were ghoing to come apart when i would make a ten minute highway trip.

I'm on my 4th set of Good Year Wrangler with Kevlar on a F250, and now an F150........3rd set on my 1911 F150, close to 80,000 miles per set of tires.......new set about 20,000 miles ago, 232,000 miles on the truck.......probably the best tires I have ever run...........now I have to find some bullshit tires to replace them?................

michelins are what you want on your F250 and up. just replaced some with 55k on my 3500. they just plain work. and they do surprisingly well offroad.

I think Toyo has different versions of the ATs. I recently bought a set that looks like they have for the last decade. There were more knobby options as well. I stuck with the standard AT tread. My land Rover wears the knobbys in the family :)

I am not sure how Toyo ATs are, but I put 4 Toyo Versado tires on my minivan, and ended up having a total of 6 tires replaced under warranty for ply separations. You are reading correctly, even 2 of the replaced tires developed ply separations

and you know that under warranty crap isn't free, still cost me each time due to the pro-rating for mileage and tire shop labor fees, etc

I will NEVER buy Toyo brand tires again because of that experience. Run of the mill Honda mini van, nothing wrong with the van that would have caused this according to 3 tire shops now.

Actually it’s a naturally aspirated (QF 750) Chevy, Ni small block, stroker, 427. It has alot of race parts in the build and a stupid cam in it. It generates just shy of 600 hp at the rear wheels last time it was on a dyno. It is fun as hell to take out and shred on a curvy rural hwy. It's so light it moves more like a motorcycle than a car.

Some Toyos are made in China. They are junk. Others are made in Japan and are typically really good. I’ve also had really good luck with coopers. Running ST Maxx on my Land Rover and they are super durable.

My Toyos (load range E) are made in the USA

I just got some AT3 made in Japan as I cut down a sidewall last week.

They were squirrelly as all fuck. Dropped the tire pressure and they settled down. We'll give it a few hundred more miles, but they may very well be garbage now. I may pull the Cooper at3's off my Denali and swap them onto the truck.

The Cooper at3 I liked, but they're not nearly as good in the snow as the Toyo. I have studded rw11's, but I've driven to work in a foot of snow in July, so it's still a consideration.

Where do you live? Antarctica?

Almost. Montana. I just watched the last snow disappear off a south facing slope a couple weeks ago. Should start seeing dustings of snow up there again in the next couple weeks.

I've went to bed at -20* and woken up to 60*. It's an odd place with all the elevation, and air currents running the Rockies. We're just clearing up from a constant haze of California smoke because the winds from Canada brought us cold. Went from 90* to 60* in the middle of the afternoon yesterday.
