Who likes their CZ455 VPT

I've seen these and love the setup. I've always wanted an "adult feeling" stock on a rimfire. I'm sure the regular stocks are fine tho too. Do you regret spending the money on the rifle or would a much cheaper version do just fine? Of course there are cheaper stock options.

I know shooters have various needs, mine would be a trainer. It seems like this rifle is comfortable.

A VPT and the right ammo makes a great trainer. A great gun, not the best one, but good enough to take the gun out of the equation when shooting. One thing it needs is a trigger. 'Yo Dave' is the one I have in my son's rifle. That really transforms the rifle from being a cool toy to a real tool for training. If you are looking to go past the trigger to an New barrel, I'd look at an Anschutz.

I sure do mine. The Manners stock is the same as on my Hospitaller so as far as ergonomics go, it is spot on. To me it's about the process itself. Yes, extra $ was spent to get it to shoot nice tight consistent groups...but then I know couple of guys here locally who modified their high end vehicles, Corvette and Ferrari. Does it make any sense? Apparently it does to them and I am not about to judge them.

Even if you don't do anything to it, it will shoot very well once you find that ammo it likes. Competitively, no, CZ doesn't stand a chance of winning but that's another story.

My cz455 sucks ass. I only have CCI SV available, and it does 1.5" groups at 50 yards. Im also not going to take the time to run around to find the best ammo. If I buy a brick and ounce that's gone, now what. I know I have a 2"ish gun/ammo combo at 100yd so I just plan for that.

i get these random fliers for no reason, and I know it wasn't me that shanked the shot. A friend of mine bought the vpt as well, and his shoots .5-.75 at 50. We haven't been out together to shoot them side by side yet. But on the other hand, he has only shown me cherry picked 3 shot groups, not a 6x5 target.

I think that's my fear. Your spending half the cost on a stock and it may not shoot. Although many do, from what I'm reading. I've been down the road of savage vs CZ, and of course the CZ is a much nicer gun. I may go the mark 2 route, and if it shoots, get a stock upgrade. Or I'll buy the American model and upgrade if it's a shooter.

I would get the tacticool model and add a kydex riser.


Also Corey you are the first person I have heard that their CZ doesn't like CCI SV. Usually people rave about that ammo in the CZ.


I have been researching the CZ's for a few years for a .22 just haven't bought one yet.


Pretty much for the money the CZ is the best bang for the buck. Of course you can get better but it's gonna cost triple of what the CZ will.


People are spending more on their .22's then their full blown custom precision rifle. Crazy.

I have a full blown djdilliodon 455 and it came with a Boyds Pro Varmit with adjustable comb stock. I'm not shooting in extreme weather so it's more than enough for my needs. If I come across a Manners for a couple hundred bucks, sure I'll pick it up to say I have one.

I love mine and it loves the CCI SV 1/2 - 3/4 at 50yds
If you can find a fly trigger, it makes the package complete.

I had one and liked it for the stock. Matched my T4 exactly and the rifle shot decent. Had a lousy trigger but I could still manage 50 yard 1/2" +- with eley edge. Mine wouldn't shoot cci std vel either. I kept mine bone stock until I sold it. Only thing I did was to torque the action screws to 25 rear and 30 front IIRC. I wanted something nicer so I sold it.

Unrelated question: would the barrel channel of an American model be wide enough for their bull barrel in the event I got an American and wanted to upgrade to a heavy contour?

in the same stock (Manners), they are about $850 and $1600. That is a pretty good delta. I would think you could sell off a VPT pretty easily.

I made my decision today and ordered a 455 American in a wood stock. I figured if I want to go manners I can later on, but use the stock it came with or just throw on a boyds. Ill throw the money saved on glass.

I'm also hoping I can use the regular stock and upgrade to a varmint contour without barrel clearance issues.

A friend that comes over to shoot recently gave up on a Savage and replaced it with a VPT. He literally shoots it twice as well. I tried it and I think it will shoot in .4s at 50yds. Good ergo.s, nice trigger at +/- 3lbs., good balance, all and all a nice rifle. We were using random lots of Center-X. This winter was awful and neither of us had shot for about six months.

The VPT would not be my choice in that price range but I think it's a good choice.

I have a 455 varmint that did that. I pillared and bedded it and it grouped ~1" @ 50y with an occasional fliers with Wolf ME. IMO the stock just flexes too much. I bought a Boyd's tacticool, pillared and reinforced the forend. I get 0.5" to clusters depending on the day with no fliers, unless I pull one.

I ended up selling the manners T4 and have the BA in a KRG chassis the match my 308. The gun shoots a wee bit better. I am going to do the firing pin mod and might cut the barrel to 16".

I like my VPT. Shoot it in a long range silhouette match every month and usually score in the mid 30's; 10-targets at four distances of 50m off-hand and prone for 100m, 150m, and 200m. Did the Yo Dave trigger spring swap which put the trigger pull at 2lbs from 3.5lbs factory. Just got a the Fly Trigger in but haven't had time to install it.

Went with the VPT because of the Manners stock which matches my 308 rig. Much cheaper to shoot as a box of 350rds of Federal Match is only $20. If I want to shoot tiny groups I switch to Wolf Match Target and can shoot 0.5-0.75 at 100yds all day long.

so, here is what my cz typically does. the top photo is pretty abnormal as far as the 7 rounds being close together with the 3 random fliers (the fliers are normal). to be honest, i'm not real sure how i even pulled off the 7 that are close together. the 2nd photo is pretty much what i can expect. not real pleased to say the least.

as far as the fliers being me, i know it's not. the gun weights 12.8lbs and the crosshairs barely move when the round goes off. sometimes, i'll even call the shot, lets say high left, and the round will hit low. so if i think i might have shanked one and the round goes way the fuck out there, is it me, the gun, ammo...fuck if i know??? kinda hard to make a 22 trainer to match your 308 damn near exactly and have it be questionable, especially with the amount of money i have into it. my ruger american rimfire shoots better. at least it's a consistent .75" at 50yds with my occasional shanked shot.

Have put a little bit of Match ammo through it, and it tightens up just a bit more, however I'm perfectly happy shooting the cheap auto match ammo. Can ring steel with boring regularity out to 300 yds (as far as our range goes). Have thought about putting a McRee chassis on it to match my .308, but the damn thing just flat out shoots the way it is. Don't regret spending the money one bit. If you are Mil, LE or first responder, contact CZ-USA and look into that pricing - saved around $200 if memory serves me correctly.

My 455 wouldn't shoot the CCIs either. Had to try different ammunition but eley edge did well at 100+ yards as did SK match. I think that sk std plus and match is the best bang for the buck. Graf has both on sale right now. My current rifle will shoot the match in 1" or close to an inch at 100 yards. Eley is pretty expensive and my current rifle doesn't like it. I still get some fliers but not like I did with CCI std vels.

I guess they don't have a 20" model in the tacticool. I thought they did.

I have no idea how much barrel length it takes to burn all the powder in a .22. I know a lot of people are happy with them though and they shoot well.

Good to know. 16.5" is easier to maneuver.
I run a .22 LR PRS type match. Right now I'm running a crappy savage mk2 G. I'm going to upgrade but I'm not sure if I'll go 16" or 20". Bolt or semi.
These CZs seem like a good buy.

I like mine. Im satisfied with cci sv, but for a a few cents more Eley Club works a little better (pic @ 50yds). The Tenex was stupid good the one time i tried it.

I love(d) mine. It is very accurate and fun to shoot. Like someone said you will want a trigger for it. There are a few options, a Yo Dave or Timney. Yo Dave is the more cost effective option. I bought the gun in .17HMR and put a Lilja 22LR barrel on it. It is a complete laser. The only reason I say Loved is that I swapped stocks to a KRG chassis. KRG makes awesome stuff but the Xray 180 doesn't fit me well. I had sold my Manners and I am putting my VPT up for sale. There are a lot of after market niceties you can get for the VPT. Mine shoots really well with high end ammo but Wolf Match Extra and SK match are just as accurate. Buy one. If you want one that is already totally tricked out in a chassis PM me. I am selling mine for the reasons stated above.

My PVT which now has a 12oz trigger shoots awesome with Eley Edge and Eley Match. One little bug hole at 50 yards with a Sparrow suppressor. You can not expect this kind of performance with CCI Std or other similar ammo. My rifle shoots Wolf Match Extra OK but it certainly does not match the Eley performance. I would put my rifle up against the 64 Anschutz action rifles, the 54 Anschutz action rifles are hard to beat but at 2.5 times the cost of my rifle.
