Who on here has laid down a motorcycle?

On two wheels since 1972, dumped,bailed,layed-down a few times.Coma, broke bones,8 fused vertebrae, collapsed lung, bruised heart.yep murdecycles will make you humble but nothing will make you more humble on a bike than being pinned between a gas pump and your beloved scooter, with a couple hard bellies in a car staring at you while you do it. I know.

Steve123,

LOL!

There's nothing quite like squeezing the brake lever going into turn one, only to find out that your front pads abandoned the bike somewhere around the start/finish line.

That's the moment I realized that I could go into turn one at Barber with an entry speed thirty miles per hour faster than I thought I could.

Live and learn. In that order.
Had the exact same thing happen to me at Beaver Run when one of my crew guys didn't install the brake pad pins correctly after a pad change. I lost both pins/both pads out of one caliper my GSXR1000. Good thing it was my first lap out and I wasn't going 100%. I threw it into turn one....... and made it! I couldn't believe it!

I fired the crew guy when I pulled back in the pits.

The fast guys, and just guessing, could maybe do 105 on the turn at the end of the strait at firebird. 90 was about tops for me.

I wish I had been able to try some racing tires on my GSXR to compare to my street tires.

I had the lap record there for a whole day in 2004. Local guy Mark Ledesma re-broke it by a 10th the next day. Basssstaaaaarrrrrdddd! :)

BeaveRun is a small track, but it flows really nicely - almost like a European track. If memory serves, turn one is a bit downhill and you can take it much faster than you think. It used to be good for hitting the rev limiter leaned over in top gear on my Honda Hawk.

Ehhhhh, it's not bad. But I never really enjoyed it. Too small for my tastes and most of the corners were too slow. On a liter bike I didn't use 1st or 6th gear. I seemed to end up there doing testing a lot for some reason.

Turn one is the way you remember it. Downhill left hander that is a lot faster than it looks. Still only 2nd gear on a liter bike. Better than riding on the street though!

beaverun is 30 minutes from me. my favorite sets of turns are 2-3-4. as suidd and graham know, do 'em fast enough and they are just one turn basically. turn 7 is my absolute favorite. hated turn 10. could never figure it out.

Then you're not very far from one of the best layouts in the US, Nelsons Ledges. Love that place, it's rocket fast!
