Re: Who wants clamp on muzzle brake for Tikka T3
We've sold hundreds and hundreds of clamp on ( only clamp, no thread) brakes. We haven't had a single brake come of that couldnt be put down to uses error. If you measure your barrel correctly, select the correct size of brake and then follow the mounting instructions, and dont use it on calibers it wasn't designed for you should have no problem with a clamp on brake.
Some of our brakes are additionaly threaded as well as clamped, 5/8x24 or M18x1 or M18x1.5 for example. they certainly arent going anwhere once fitted.
It is correct that the Sako TRG's use a clamp style brake ( if the rifle is a non threaded model) the single clamping screw does however sit in a canelure that is machined around the barrel, thus preventing for or aft movement of the brake.
Ive converted some of our brakes by way of the addition of a pin to perform the same task as the screw on the TRG brake, In this case we have clampend and pinned them onto .408 Chey-Tac.. with no problem at all.
Clamp brakes work. if you dont want to, or can't legaly thread your muzzle, they are an option for you to reduce recoil.
personaly my barrels all have muzzle threads, but i swap between brakes and suppressors.
