    No! not Kevin Federline!

I walked into my local gun store again at just the right time. It just so happened someone was at the counter unloading a gun. Well not literally, he was selling it to the shop.

It caught my eye with its familiarity. It looked like my Smith and Wesson 52-2, a magical gun built in the underworld, but no it wasnt a 52-2. I learned right than and there there was another magical gun that came into being when the 52-2 machinery gave up the ghost and Smith decided not to repair it. I was holding a Performance Center 952-1.

Now Ive never wanted a 9mm. Ive resisted it like the plague. I do own a Luger but that was a hand me down bring back from WWI the original 9mm parabellum. Ive never shot that.

My most experince with 9mm is firing open bolt Uzi for qual in the USMC. a fine gun that is, but 9s are kind of itty bitty little bullets.

But now I own a nine I think I can respect. These are supposed to be as good, if not better, than the Sig P210 in the accuracy department. We shall see.

    With its 52-2 brother...

Oh man pmclaine thats awesome! Damn I wish I was closer, Id take care of ammo for the both of us plus some strong island ice teas and a meal after ward if youd take me out with ya to run this one head 2 head against the .38 52. Very cool!

How ya like the sights, trigger?

Okay the 952 made it to the range today....

My indoor gives me about 13 yards from where I typically set up. Todays target is Mr. Idignant, so smug with his hand on his hip....

First 3 shots to check function...

5 more showing a left bias. I didnt have a Borka kit with me or I would have adjusted the sight right. I continued to hold Center of Mass anyway.....

Fire for effect the full 50....

The gun tells you were your technique stinks. I doubled twice out there. By no means is it a recoil monster, you just have to ensure you use good form pinning that trigger back. Thinking you can go to reset and be all firm with taking up the slack is a no go. The trigger is light. I was thinking this might be a neat gun to carry as a sidearm in an AR class but Im not thinking that safe right now.

My other misconception was that this is a COM gun its actually a COH gun...

    The second 50 rounds...

Ill have to make that sight adjustment right but if its this good now Im sure after a dinner or two, some romance, you know getting to know one another it can only get better.

The flat screw head on the right side isn't windage adjustment?

Very nice pistol. After picking up a P938 for a carry pistol I am really wanting a full sized 911 in 9mm or 38 super.. Maybe I need to broaden my parameters.

Oh yeah. I know which screw to turn to adjust and clockwise is right but the screwdriver tips I had didnt fit the slot on the screw and rather than mar it up I figured Id wait to get the right tool.

In order to complete my set I want a Model 39-2 or maybe a 439 with adjustable sights. Ive had my chances and Ive had people offer to help but the pistol that is meant to be mine will come along when the time is right.

    This 952 is special though.

I gotcha. I'm a "Leatherman" will work but I don't have anything nice like that. I love pistols, but to me they are a tool to fight my way to a rifle. Those pistols are beautiful. That gun shop of yours must be like the blue mosquito zapper to gun sluts of all stripes.

pmc sent pics of his gunstore to me a while back. We should all be jealous he has one like that around!

Nice shooting again pmc! Gotta love quality workmanship in a workman's gun.:D:cool:

Nice. So excluding the .38, would you say this is the most accurate auto you have? Or could a 1911 give it a run for its money?
Also, I'd reckon a High Power can't really compete with a 952 in the precision dept?

This has slightly just more recoil than the 52-2.

The 52-2 just "clears its throat" when you pull the trigger.

Today was the most 9mm Ive ever fired in my life save for a shoulder braced Uzi. I found the 9mm to be tame. Mostly I shoot .45 ACP and 9mm is no .45 ACP. Even .38 Special revolvers using my 52-2 reloads feel to have more sack than 9mm.

That said the trigger on the 952 is sensitive enough that I doubled twice today. Ive never doubled the 52-2. The triggers are different.

I think my poor technique and just enough snap in the 9mm caused the trigger double tap. Ive shot way more with the 52-2 than this perhaps my mind is confused by the similarity.

The double tap wasnt pleasant. I dont like launching bullets unless its on my terms.

As far as which gun is more accurate.....

I think you may have saw this thread...

    https://www.snipershide.com/shootin.../6413248-shooting-some-m45a1-and-other-45-acp

Those are my guns and those are my targets I think I know which ones put bullets where I intend them to and which ones tend to pattern a bit. I think there are a lot of .45 shooters that can beat anything I do with the 52-2 but they may be able to beat there own .45 with that gun.

    Hey Coyote,

I see in that other pistol shooting thread you specifically asked me about the 952.

At that point just a mere few weeks ago I had no idea what a 952 was.

So here is your answer in pictures to your questions. My wallet blames you for having Karma swing the gun my way.

I assumed that beyond the 39-2 and the 52-2 all other Smith and Wesson semis were raw stainless steel guns with square trigger guards had big giant winged rear sight assemblies and spongy triggers. Smith and Wesson revolvers have an attraction for me but the semis not so much.

Had this gun been a -2 in raw stainless steel I wouldnt have given it a second look and still would be ignorant of the 952.

You rightly paired it with the Sig P210. I knew what a P210 is and would take one of those in a heart beat. Good to know though I now have its equal and it was made just up the road in USA, well kind of, unsure if MA is still part of the USA.

Thanks for sharing sir! Do youu think subs would be more accurate than supers?

Hopefully your wallet can atleast take pleasure in the fact Im living vicariously thru you and your awesome collection Mr Mclaine

Subs vs supers - no idea. I'm guessing less recoil/blast is always a good thing as long as the speed of the bullet works with the gun.

Im lucky I come across the guns I do and have a job that lets me work an extra shift here and there to afford them. Anytime your vicarious living wants to watch your vicarious kids for a weekend to let me and Mrs go away for a weekend of shooting let me know.
